long time RX-7 fan, owned 5, my first FD!

Hello all,

As you can see, from my membership to RX7CLUB.COM, I've been a fan for a long time now. I've owned several RX-7s, mostly FC3S. I sold my beloved '88 RX-7 Turbo II before leaving to the Marine Corps. I've been dreaming of owning a FD since I was 15. Now 40, I finally bought one. She was a '93 unmodified Touring SSM with BBS. (Added stainless steel brake lines and 929 Master Cylinder conversion since I've owned her). I believe the FD3S is one of the most beautiful car that ever existed.

My FD3S currently sits shy under 28k miles. Yes, clean titled, 28k miles, and verified via CarFax. Because how low the miles is, I don't plan to do any extensive modding that would sway too far from factory. She passes California Smog. However, I am upgrading OEM parts to make it as reliable as it can be. I already have a FC thermoswitch, silicone vacuum lines, and fast Air Intake Temperature sensor en route. Looking into Efini Y pipe/Intercooler, PowerFC, etc. I already bought over $900 worth of OEM parts for upkeep.

Nice find. Definitely add a downpipe to your list of reliability mods. Keep your stock catted downpipe for emissions purposes when you need to renew. I'm a big fan of OEM+ which is what I'm doing with my car as well.

Mazda, through their reproduction parts listing, sell the properly formed vacuum hoses for replacement purposes.

Total set about $750, but will preserve the original look of the engine bay and help avoid hooking things up wrong.

Congratulations on the new addition! Silverstone metallic is my favorite color. I remember the first time I saw one in person back when I was 17. It looks like you've got a really good starting point to go in whatever direction you choose be it further refining what you already have or descending into build craziness as many of us have. I will say that a mildly modified stock twins car is a hoot to drive and probably one of the best interpretations of a third gen.

Be sure to keep us in the loop!

update

I installed a shifter renew kit from Pettit Racing (https://pettitracing.com/products/rx7-shifter-renew-kit). Feels a lot better.

there was some difficulties removing the 10mm on one of the shifter boot. I re-threaded by hand.

What a beautiful example. If you're going with pfc i cant recommend enough the dl-340xb with fc-tweak. An absolute must have to keep your car running in peak condition on pfc. It's like magic.

929 MC conversion

Once done with brake/clutch bleeding, changing the spark plugs and wires.

Might want to do a "smoke test" from time to time, to watch for, among other things, any unseen problems from disturbing the rats nest.
