And, I assume you ended with the 3 commas, meaning them to be ellipses, like I use when I correct your spelling and suggest you don't post anymore... (< "ellipses"... right next to the commas).

Yes I was thinking about this. The Asheville house will be done within the next 90 days. It was 104 yesterday in Dallas - not fun. Driving on the Blue Ridge Parkway with a nice breeze blowing will be nice.

As to how long it's taken for the car to be completed, I agree, way too long. And as Gordon has pointed out, I have been fleeced along the way but I have also learned much. At this point, with the car being 95% done, it would be silly to give up. It is a great looking car and it will be a blast to drive.

Reliability? Do we really buy these cars for this reason?

Gotham shipped it out today and we're looking at a possible two week delay.

On the good news side, the car looks great and I got to spend some quality time with "my other woman". Hopefully someday soon she'll come home with me

I'm keeping a home in Jacksonville also so you'll still get to see the car.

I'm now back in Jax after the Gotham trip. It was a good trip. Gotham spent a lot of quality time on the car and it shows in the tuning and drivability of the car. The also took car of my very **** "punch list". Last time there I detailed everything to be fixe/replaced down to missing bolts on the car. The list has gone from 40 items down to a few.

I really wanted everything to be finalized but what can you do? Slap a new turbo on the car and soon I'll be back on the road.

My regrets for the car not being 100% finished, but you have to wonder if a car like that will ever truly be "finished."

I think I'm going to cut up that video I took wayyyy back in April of '07 so I can post it to YouTube (it's too long right now). The contrast should be night and day when you have new video .

How long was that turbo on the car before it went south and I guess the most the turbo's been used is on the dyno lately? The car's like a hot woman who seems to be able to blue-ball you for 4 long, antagonizing years and for some odd reason, we don't seem to mind

precision turbos do have a high number of failures, but this is due mainly to ppl boosting too much on them. since your boost is so low, in your case the opposite may be the culprit. you may need to consider that your compressor is too large for the little amount of boost you're running. 19psi is just not enough boost for a turbo that big. turbos need a minimum amount of compressor tip speed to function efficiently, otherwise they may start to surge. here's a quote from garrett:

"Surge is most commonly experienced when one of two situations exist. The first and most damaging is surge under load. It can be an indication that your compressor is too large. "

maybe something to consider.

Had a big discussion with Gotham and with the turbo company about this. The turbo is probably a bit on the small side for a 3 rotor with a 1.0 hot side so I doubt this is the culprit.

even 2 rotor motors put out enough heat to melt turbos under the right conditions. I would doubt that just dyno tuning would do in the turbo but I guess you never know. I know I've gone through my fair share of turbos under racing conditions.

Yes, but given how things have dragged on and on for me, I'm afraid of posting.

The turbo is back from Precision and Gotham says it's now right - no shaft play. My ecutout is back (it blew an o-ring but is now fixed). I'm now waiting on the tranny to come back. Had some notchy shifting so Gotham sent it out for a rebuild. The shop is in Dallas and they said it would take 4-5 days so that would put it at today for coming back.

That's it for now.

All parts are back at Gotham. The bummer is the tranny had more problems and we needed to order a few specialty parts from Ray at Malloy. These are coming from Japan but Ray is the man and he expects them to be in by the end of this week. Gotham is at a stand still until the tranny gets back as they can't reinstall the down pipe or ecutout until the tranny is in. The new RX8 alternator has to wait until then also.
