Glad to hear things are going so smoothely for a change. Don't be skeptical about this seeing that you were so used to getting the run around. Seems like it will be ready in time for Christmas!

David, I'm glad to hear that the car is coming along nicely. But I'm confused as to why you switched ECU's. Which version of Wolf was in the car? It's too bad that it didn't get finished in Sacramento. I saw your car when it was at Wolf and it is truly a piece of art. I'm sure that you'll be very pleased with it once you get it back.

I don't get why your car was held hostage and you had to pay for something you never received.

Chris should be the person paying Steve to complete the work, pay for the expense of the transport and a large percentage of what was paid him while the car was in his possesion.

Your situation has me suprisingly frustrated but all in all I know Steve will make your car right.

Good Luck

projects can and most often do come out to be bigger than planned, i often run into issues doing custom work that take a bit longer than planned but i wind up eating the extra labor most of the time so i can understand it from chris' point of view in needing more money to get things back together but at the same time hearing from david that some things that were never planned on being done were being done on the car without david's initial consent and then billed for is what got to me, i ALWAYS speak with the owner before making any decisions/changes to the car and such changes to then add it onto the bill?

glad to hear things are finally coming along for you now david, sorry i couldn't help out more but it kind of came out of the blue.

Man, are people really in such a financial bind that they have to take everyone they feel they can get-over-on to the cleaners? Within the past year, I think I've heard more horror stories about people getting screwed, cheated, robbed, taken advantage of by so called professional shops/shop owners. What the hell is the world coming to...

Unfortunately, it seems to happen all the time in the rotary scene. I think the only people I haven't hear horror stories about (in 15 years of rotary ownership) is Rotary Perf in TX, Gotham, Pettit, Racing Beat and few smaller shops here and there.

Try to read the thread. This is the most terrible story I have heard. I am happy he finally has it worked out. Nice little tiny trophy though.

um, I've talked to David in person....it's been a frustrating road, but then again running a 20b with an atypical ECU is not something people do every day

I think he's learned alot, and I doubt he would say it's been a "terrible experience"

It looks like its been pretty bad. The man deserves to have had his car long ago. He has been screwed multiple times now, and the ECU was just part of the lies he has had to face. I am glad you have talked to him. Your 16 posts in and seem like a troll to me.

Having a 20B FD would be killer, but having a wife that hasn't castrated you after this hole ordeal? Priceless!

I'd have been divorced by now.

i'm pretty sure David isn't in the poorhouse, this is just a project for him but it is a project that is LONG overdue to be completed. most people think of tables like this as catastophic events, but when you have extra money set aside for such occasions it just doesn't seem quite such a big deal but frustruating nonetheless.

a pretty penny invested but still a car that will rival most cars in the half million dollar range when it is finally completed.

I think no matter how much $ you have it is a trying experience and his time wasted trying to deal with the one guy in particular would be frustrating for anyone.
I agree its worth the wait as I am doing the conversion now.

I am curious what half million dollars cars in what areas you think it will compete with? That is a comment that shouldn't be tossed around.
Thanks.

Thanks for the compliments on the car. Heck, you've seen the car more recently than I have. As for the ECU, I decided to take the Wolf out and replace it with the Haltech E11 because this is the unit recommended and preferred by Steve Kan. I pretty much asked Steve what he wanted in the car and this is the unit he selected. From my perspective, I didn't really care, I just wanted to maximize the potential for success this time around. There's nothing wrong with the Wolf unit. It's actually pretty easy to tune but I wanted to ensure Steve had a unit with which he was comfortable.

FYI - The Wolf 3D unit, wiring harness, and the Innnovate datalogger with its wideband 02 sensor has been shipped to me. Anyone interested? I have one member who'd like it but cash may be an issue. I also have an RPM convertor (drawing a blank on the brand) available.

You are probably right, but I took a realistic approach to this. Although I agree with your position, what is the likelihood that Chris would have the money to pay for this? Answer - none. Also, how long would a lawsuit take? My business experience tells me a lawsuit rarely nets one what is really due and while this would be going on, would my car still be at Wolf USA?

When I weighed my options, I decided the quickest route to getting back my car and the $50K I've invested in it would be to pay off Chris and eliminate the legal side of the issue. Yes, I wasted a lot of moeny on this but at least I have my car back and it's now finally being worked on.

David, you are a true businessman. I'm glad you were able to seperate the emotional isssues from the end result.

I'm in JAX, and we've talked before.

Hope we can meet up, we are having a meet on 12/30 @ Girven's park.

I agree with you jobs can run more than originally planned. You are also correct Chris set off working on things not descussed and frankly, simply irrelevent to the single turbo upgrade. I didn't know about these things (like the decision to "simplify" my the wiring on my car - Gotham has now corrected the safety issues caused by this) until about 10 months into the job. Money wasn't the issue with the car. The lack of work and the increasing risk I had with keeping the car at Wolf was.

I still think Chris Greene is an unbeleivably knowledgable guy when it comes to rotaries but the results speak for themselves. To add to what I previously posted, I have now also had to replace my AC compressor because it was not capped off/protected, and dirt has gotten into the unit.

Karak, thanks for taking my panicky phone calls a few months ago. I appreciate it.

I think you've hit the nail on the head with this post. Life's circumstances and stress can make many people resort to bad choices.

I have learned a lot about rotories and conversions and am much more knowledgable than I used to be (probably a 5 out of 10 now). Unfortunately, the past year has been a terrible experience for me, particularly when I couldn't reach Chris for those last few weeks and I didn't know if I would ever see my car again. It's a weird feeling and not one I want to have again. I know it's just a car (and a bunch of money).

18th wedding anniversary right around the corner She's great. The Miata we bought so she'd have something to drive during this ordeal didn't hurt either. Probably saved the marriage
