Jrod's 95 FD Build
Ok, so after I traded my last Rx7 off for the Supra i really missed it. These cars are just so fun to drive. And when they make decent power, they are pretty damn quick. My black car surprised more than a few people at the last Texas Invitational that i took it too, out ran a c6z06 on bottle, fbody making north of 700whp etc... The shop that built it led me down a long road of replacing parts that did not need replacing due to there ability to not tune the vehicle properly and always blaming it on other issues i came to find out. They also popped the motor, once the new owner got the car. So i was out a couple thousand more dollars doing what i could to help him out.
So fast-forward a few months, had been hunting for awhile for another one. One day i got a call from a buddy. And he said he had found a 95 Montego Blue Rx7 that a friends Boss had that was not running but had an extra motor for it. So i drove up to Tulsa and snagged the car, got a STUPID deal on it. Plans were to pull the wankel out and slap something that had a pushrod in it. But after reading etc.. I have decided to give the rotary one more chance. The engine will be going to De Humo Racing Out of Kansas City. Has a two rotor that has ran 7's at 170+. Guy knows how to make a engine that can hold some power and tunes his own cars. So he will be tuning the car too.
My time frame is 120 days with the car. Power wise i will keep it around 500-600whp. Car will be getting the Plasti Dip Pro Car dip treatment for now, going to order the entire kit, getting the old Te37's i still have from the last car, and a entire black interior conversion. Once i get tired of the plasti dip, i think i will repaint the car the color it came from the factory, Montego Blue. This car is a little low, but love everything else about it.
Here are some pictures of when i picked it up.
Pulling the interior out right now including the dash, sucks you have to pull the dash to get the carpet out.
the dash came out, what a task! I am not going to lie, was pretty scared of the damn air bag when I pulled the steering wheel. This dash had seen better days, if i can't find a good shape used one, I will have this one re covered. Going back in will be the fun part. LoL

Engine is out of the car. Now motor will go to Kansas City. And I will continue to work on the body and interior.
First coat of primer is down, very happy with it so far very even and smooth. I had to stop for the night bc nats were flying into it.
The base coat got finished up tonight, 1 gallon total. I have put one gallon of white down, still two more to go, then the top coat of pearl. Coming out ok so far.
Well I finished the car up today. It's not perfect, but for my first time I am happy with it. The pearl really makes it look better. I will get better pics once I finish the wheels.
And this is the Turbo that is going on the car.
I copied most of these post from a local forum and put them here. Build has been going on about 30 or so days as of now. I will up date this build as I go.

It was plastidip
I agree that first pic looks great, thats why when the plastidip comes off the car will get painted a fresh coat of MB. Thats why in my post i put when i get tired of the plastidip, thats what i want my car to look like.

Got a little more done to tonight.
As far as the exterior goes. It's almost done. I got the new R1 lip on, got all the corner markers etc.. Tinted, wheels dipped black and tail lights etc put back on. Hope to finish the exterior this week. Then start putting the guts back in.

I was going to dip my car white haha. Happy you put down the base though as the white seems to be the most fragile and is hardest to peel off. I was looking at the pearl initially, but was worried it would come out a creamy color like a Cadillac. Thinking about white and metalyzer, but I really want to see some of this stuff in person first. Look forward to the pics though! Curious as to how you attacked the headlights as well.

Sorry for the delays. I have been busy. Car is pretty much the same shap. Motor is done, and was built by Armoris Martinez in Kansas City. Also have the MicroTech ready to go in. I am still hunting a good condition dash. I bought one, and it turned out not to be that nice and got damaged in Shipping. So back on the hunt. I just picked up a set of R3 RX8 Recaro seats for it. Cant wait to get the interior buttoned up.
