Actually that is the shop of the guy who sold me my first RX7 like 6yrs ago. I pretty much get free reign on about anything in his shop: Lifts, tools, etc. It is about 2 blocks from Mark's place.

Nice I am about to do the same. I am looking for a low milage oem white model FD so I can do the same. Swap all my goodies to it and turn my MB back to stock and sell it.

So...after a cold *** week here in Florida where no one I know did any work (It was in the 20s-30s which is cold as ***** for us) new parts came in and the weather was back in the high 60's/low 70's...perfect for work!
First...some new parts that came in! Steel, driver side motor mount arm courtesy of Japan2LA. Next, Atomic Rex Pillow Ball Bushings + Powerflex Bushings!

As noted, today 1-7-12 some work was managed on the car. The small stuff first: ABS removal, continued stripping of interior (rear bin removal), discovery of where the accident caused some rubbing through of my wiring harness (but no breaks) and removal of the ground from my charging harness just because I was bored and it is unneeded due to battery relocation.

With the weather being acceptable, my buddy Jimmy saved me a ton of $$$ by cutting out the damaged area and replacing it with a section from my donor car. Cost? $100 + lunch at Sonny's! Hooray! As far as I can tell, everything is within 1/16" of an inch and quite possibly a tighter tolerance than that!
First...the cutting!

Nice work Mr. Grande Hopefully our pain will be your gain. Might I suggest while you have the innards all pulled apart you shoot the car with some Quiet Coat (http://www.quietrock.com/soundproof-...quietcoat.html)? Your ears will thank you for it.
And I also concur with your philosophy on people versus actions. I can count on two fingers the number of people I passionately dislike and neither of the two are on this forum. As you, I have been known, particularly recently, to strongly disagree with an action but I don't confuse that with the individual.
Now make us proud and get that puppy back on the road!

+1 on quiet coating while your car is in bare bones. If you don't do it know, it'll be that much harder to do it later.
And after driving David's 3 rotor and seeing how quiet a 3 rotor can be...its golden! If you're gonna release the purse strings...dump it all out lol

I'll cut any part off the donor car that anyone can use. The new engine should be here this week and things should start going back together...except the the suspension which is coming apart for bushings!

Started to tear down the block. Lots of oil from the turbos, crispy wiring harness, pulled injectors to send for cleaning etc. Nothing special, just a few pics.
One of the coil wires was corroded and the corresponding coil was too...so I'm fairly certain that was not good for the car.

I had the same problem with the corrosion in the coil pack. I used some electric parts cleaner and a brush to scrape it out. It worked great. I also replaced my wires. Depending on mileage you may just want to clean it good.
