FAMspeed 1992 Efini RX-7 Type-R build thread
I guess i'll start a build thread for this. I've got quite a bit done on the car over the last couple weeks. I've had it for almost 3 weeks now. I had bought another RHD FD that was taken all apart but came with lots of performance parts last year, I was going to buy a front clip to fix it up but came across this and haggled them down to only $900 more than i was going to pay for the front clip since winter is comming soon and we both knew it wouldnt sell before spring.
Starting out its a 1992 Efini Type-R Tuned by FAMspeed in J-pan
When I got it , it needed alittle TLC. the heater core leaked, so I just rerouted the heater hose back into the engine for now I had to do that on my FC last year, no need for a heater in a summer car anyways. next I had to swap out the dash for the one from my chassis. the one in the new car had a big chunk out of it and looked like crap. so I got the dash and door panels all changed and looking good tossed on my Momo wheel (it came with the other car not my choice of colour hahaha). I still need an ashtray and a radio to have the interior all back together It needs some body work, theres a couple dents in the roof from shipping and some scratches here and there , my uncle has a body shop, so he's going to do all that over the winter.
heres a little walk around video I made with it running right after I got it idling decent, sounds kinda shitty its just off my cell phone.

heres a pic of the interior after everything was swapped over from my parts car
I had a brand new set of rims and tires on the parts car So i tossed them on, They're 18" Sportmax 006 rims witt 235/265 tires

After that I took it for its safety check, and when I got it back it was idling lumpy shaking and the rpm and vacuum was jumping around. I was thinking That MF at the garage blew my engine. The comp was good 3 even pulses and over 100psi with regular comp tester. so I started checking things and found out the airpump wasn't working, after looking around I found out the a/c fuse had been pulled so i put it a new fuse and the airpump started working but was squealing bad , so i knew why the fuse was pulled hahahaha, I swapped on my extra air pump and it idled smooth as can be pulls 16-17in'lbs of vacuum and stays nice and steady.
after that I took it for the emissions testing, since its a grey market vehicle it got to go under the hot rod rule which is 1980's emissions standards so it flew through that. the nox limit was funny its 2975ppm mine was 32ppm hahaha
anyways I still have quite a few things to put on it now that its all certified
parts waiting to be installed
full Cwest body kit with 99 spec signals ( still deciding if i want it on or sell it)
99 spec tail lights
99spec spoiler with CF insert
New Tein coilovers
Tannabe swaybars
HKS downpipe
Apexi 4" carback
ACT LW flywheel Stage 2 clutch andHD pressure plate
Greddy dual filter intake
greddy oilfilter relocation kit
Apexi AFC neo for fine tuning
I need to get another AEM uego WBo2 too
I'm just going to drive it around stock for a couple weeks to have some fun then pull the engine freshen it up with a basic rebuild and streetport, get my uncle to get out the dents and paint it same colour i think. should be pretty sweet in the spring
2What do you guys think should I put on the body kit or just sell it and keep it stock looking????
