CYM build by RE-Mamamia
First of all, my build is going to be a little embarrassing comparing to the other builds in this space...some of the builds here are simply amazing! Anyway, the CYM is my second FD as some of you may recognize my previous 94 Chaste White.
Well, long story short, I blew that motor on the track, spent a gazillion $ rebuilding it and then sold it without documenting much of it's life. Now that I am back in the FD game, I'll simply use this space to document and share my experience with my second FD RX-7, 1993 R1 in CYM.
The FD is neither my daily driver nor my weekend warrior - it is a car that embodies my love for sports cars in simpler forms; lightweight, agile, reasonable power and timeless styling. The goal is to keep it that way, beat it up on trackdays as much as I can, and admire it from time to time.
Anyway, I would like to start this build thread with a video of my engine removal that we worked on last week. The engine was actually running very strong at only 56k miles with nothing leaking but I still wanted to refresh it and build it as reliable as possible so it won't share the same fate as my last FD.

Argh - can't embed Vimeo vids...anyone know how to do that? Here's the link -

Remember seeing your old FD once, great looking car. Looking forward to following this and living vicariously through you until I get my CYMs out west with me so I can start tearing into them as well

The engine is being delivered to Banzai as we speak. I know there are several rotary shops locally but for some reason, i was having trouble getting them on the phone and like you said, if i can't get a hold of them now, i probably won't be able to once they have my motor. Banzai was ultra responsive to all of my emails and questions so i think i've made the right choice.
Anyway, some photos of pulling the motor:
I LOVE my epoxy floor...she can leak all she wants, so easy to clean!
My buddy did all the work...I just snapped photos woohoo it's out!!!
Took me 2 days to take off all the peripherals but I finally did it and now the motor is on the way for a complete rebuild with Super Seals and street port.
That's it for now.

just received a call from swaintech that they can't coat my turbos and mani because i didn't properly take everything apart and it wasn't cleaned. They can't do anything so it's coming back to me. Boo.

While waiting for my engine to come back, various parts arrived this week. X'mas sure came early this year!!!
Seibon RE style CF hood. This will be painted CYM
Autoexe CF lip. Amazing quality...if you look close enough, you can actually see through it...unlike the hood above, no fiberglass overlay here! LOL
Odula CF wing insert
99 spec bumper, undertray and brake duct
140amp alternator and motor mount
Greddy pulley kit

Nice looking build dude. Your White car looks great.
If you don't mind me asking where did you get the autoexe allotted from and how much?
It looks beautiful and I would like one for my bumper.
You can pm me if you like

Got the lip from Corksport, price is on their website but slightly higher due to the weak dollar these days.

Finally got the engine back and I have to say, Banzai Racing did a tremendous job. Not only did they communicate with me almost daily on the progress, Elaine and Chris responded to my emails within the hour. But the coolest part is that they documented the entire rebuild for me; from tear down to completion.
While they had the engine apart, i requested a street port and decided to strengthen the seals with 2mm RA Super seals.
Here are pictures of the tear down - http://www.banzai-racing.com/2011_cu..._breakdown.htm
and here are the rebuild pics and end result - http://www.banzai-racing.com/2011_cu...en_rebuild.htm
