bump for this!

i'm still following it, albeit it will be a project a few years down the road for me (got some evo stuff to attend to) but I am working on getting some kind of idea of a price range. I've spoken to Supernaut about this a little via PM.

What I've worked out, it's going to be a minimum $40k on top of the rx7 itself. For me, this would include chassis refresh/ spotweld(if necessary) and repainting everything in the whitest jdm white the 99+ rx7 came in. + engine with turbos, transmission, built or otherwise, body parts, etc.

Some small consolation - this car dominates XP and SSM in SCCA nationals

Well, it's been a while. Things have been really busy lately after an awesome summer. I'm glad to report that the car is doing well. Over the summer, finally had the chance to let Brian (TitaniumTT) get his hands on my car haha. I've always liked the guy and admired the craftsmanship on his FC so I had a single turbo conversion done at speed1 while he was there. The car has been really good to me and super fun. My bumper has a lot of carbon on it now. The summer of fireballs.

Can't say that the engine bay is pretty but the car really runs like a champ. Brian and Speed1 really did a great job.

Need some fine tuning with idle, some paint correction and some ins and outs I'll probably visit IRP for. Other then that, I finally think that the only thing left for this car is cosmetics and that feels really good to finally say now.

Reading this inspires me to continue my Spirit R build. The last year I've been working on getting car to run first which was $26,000 alone(counting car which was $7,000) . Now for the black interior conversion, 99 spec parts/titanium gray paint, Spirit R cluster/seats/badges/foot rest/shift ****.

Are you running the Spirit R Bilstein factory shocks? I have a full set and wanted to sell them but not been thinking about keeping them. I have not installed them for a test ride yet.

In Australia many of us that have Spirit R's replace the Bilsteins as they are quite a harsh ride for Aussie roads (which are terrible!) The Bilstein's are good for Jap roads because they at least take pride in their work when paving!, I run Tein Super Streets in mine, lowered 1 inch over factory height (which is too high in my opinion) and gives the FD the look it shoulda had from the factory, not to mention the ride quality is significantly improved.

I just noticed the girl in the background in that last picture Andy posted...... that's definitely the pose of every significant other who's waiting at the speed shop for the 7 to finally be finished so she can get the hell OUT of there

Let the bumping begin!
So after I handed Andy the keys @ S1 a few years ago, we had tuned to 454rwhp and the car was a monster. About a year ago something bad happened and the engine got hurt. The WM line blew off and all 6 apex seals bananaed and most of the side seal springs went flat and some even got pinched. Sad sad day. I actually heard you about a half mile away and my heart sank. I heard at least two faces down. When I drove the car that night I got her up to temp and punched her in 2nd and though.... aweeeeeeeeee... oh there's the boost. Yeah, we can do WAY better than this!

After tearing, inspecting, cleaning, inspecting, re-porting :toetap05: changing rotors to my favorite ones  setting all the clearances, cleaning, inspecting, setting everything up.... we're ready to build!

Aweeeeeee yeah... slumbering beast!

Most people who know me, know that I effing HATE silicone couplers.... so it had to go... enter the Van Jen.

Slumbering monster ready to be dropped in :hurray:

Incase anyone is thinking about being a dick, I did portmatch the elbow to the vanjen, not a quick task, and I should also mention that everything else was portmatched as well. Elbow to TB, TB to UIM, UIM to LIM, and of course, LIM to block

I like the concept of the Xessive LIM, but in practice it turns out it's a bit of a PITA. Every stud stripped on me when torquing to factory spec. Brian was displeased because I had already heli-coiled one of the housings (while installed, I do not recommend this at all) so I wasn't ready to take the turbo or the mani off to get the LIM out, so instead I had to heli-coil the 4 studs and I went ahead and heli-coiled and studded the long center bolt as well. All with the LIM installed. If they pull out (giggitty) I'm going to be very surprised.

Again.... ON WITH THE VANJENS!!!!!!!!

Muaaahaaahahaaa!!!!!!! Getting very close!

Oh yeah..... stock AST is a common failure point and just getting rid of it isn't the right way to do it either. EVERY rotary in my eyes needs an AST in some form or another..... here is the common way I go about it on the REW's or any 13B with the REW WP and housing. Works well. I wanted to do something similar on my FC, but sadly I didn't have the room... VMIC and all

First start up! The neighbors must be used to it by now. The first time I started up a fresh build, the FD showed up.... as in Fire Department :smilielol5:

I can't imagine why!

I really don't see what the issue is :smilielol5:

Aight.... enough is enough... time for some break-in miles!!!!!!
