Bubbles Build Thread

Spring Break = Updates.
-started making brackets so the mirrors mount in the same holes as the stock ones
-started mocking up/making brackets for the FC oil cooler
ordered more fittings for the oil cooler
ordered an oil temp gauge
wrapped the hood FINALLY. came out amazing til i went over it all with a heat gun to make sure it all set, then i created two bubbles and botched it. 3 mistakes on the hood. Idc, ill have to live with it. its costing way too much to be perfect and i dont think it will last long (the matte white seems to be staining like i worried about.....)
mess up..
seams came out awesome though!

Feed me riceeeeeeeeeeeeee
retro fitting the brackets for the EBAY mirrors to fit the stock position.
mig welded then filled with all metal (metal filler)
feather light body filler
"arms" for the mirrors. lathed' them out.. made a few since i have to bend/measure.. figured id botch a few so made extras to test.....
FC oil cooler mounted..
Still need to make a duct............
Started working on the chassis... because im vinyling the car, i didnt want to leave the jams the ugly mixed shades of white.. so i sanded em down, primer, and painted them satin. not a perfect color match but hellllllla lot better looking
door
hatch jams
ordered momo seat mounts that should be here tomorrow (thanks stable energies)
fittings for oil coolers were on back order for a few days. looked today and they are over a month on back order now.. thanks summit for telling me........................ just ordered them in nickle finish instead of black =(
Wheels are at the powder coater. they should be done and have new tires mounted by Saturday.
hoping to have the chassis ready for vinyling by tomorrow.....

does any difficulty or precaution come into play when sanding the whole car down?
If I prep the car for paint and all that is left is the paint itself im thinking that could really lower costs of getting a car painted. Ive always loved CW.
Looking forward to seeing finished results of the vinyl. Is there any strategy to cleaning vinyl?

i dont get what youre asking... its the same thing as sanding anythign else just larger scale?
consdering you have a new car you probably dont even have to really sand it.. just scuff it up so the paint or primer would stick...
i dont do body work nor really know what im doing. i sanded a lot of it down because there were pits, paint drips, and some shitty *** rock chip gaurd on the side of the car which looked like glued sand with paint sprayed over. if it was good paint id just vinyl right over it
so far i see no strategy cleaning vinyl. i waste money and put it on, and it stains.... someone recomended me some like organic goo gone that apparently works rreally welll now i just have to find it... it should be on campus in 2-3 weeks......

I was talking about the future fd to paint, but thats good that its fairly a straight forward method.
Ive seen a black vinyl FD and it was a fingerprint magnet, im not too sure if that is an issue with the white color though.
as far as being on campus..... I cant wait to see it. Is your bumper frp or urethane?
Also what are you doing to route air to the intake?

Yes sir, or at least i hope....... If i work on the car today, i should have the vinyl done....... then all i need to are minor things to get her in tip top shape and a tune.....!
fiberglass. its a 99spec knock off since it is the plateless version.
as of now, nothing. time is running short as the semester is almost over i have to get cracking on my thesis project........fml
hahah bucks...... thats why we tape up our front ends when we go to deals but i dont think it cleans well either.. i have a funny feeling the liquid ice clay bar might work wonders... (it cleaned off the carbon caked on my rear bumper from the exhaust with ease.......... but then again that was paint.....)
qtf!
im hoping. thats what i though, but how many of them actually get constantly worked on? i think it will weather okay, im more concerned about me touching it while im working on it and the grease staining it..........!

if you buy a big enough piece, you can cover the whole body without a seam FIRST, and then cut the excess out and use the excess to wrap the smaller pieces, with essentially scrap. but wrapping small parts first means you need to buy a big sheet in the end and then you have all this left over vinyl that you cant use.
you may not even like the way it looks, spend 20 bucks and buy some plasti-dip and PD the car. PD covers evenly so its very easy to apply, except it leaves a rough textured surface.
If i wind up with a BB its one of the first things i do for giggles.
Also thought about doing in on my current bumper for autox but im a little hesitant if it glues on with the heat, my paint is beautiful so i dont want to potentially ruin it.

got home late from school but still wanted to get some work done.
I pre cut the vinyl for the chassis and remaining pieces... looks like ill be JUST short. IF i dont botch the front bumper, all ill need is another piece to wrap the rear bumper (i hope i can get it this time around...)
if things go according to plan, i should have the tranny sensors fixed, oil coolers install complete and the car wrapped in vinyl (minus bumpers) all buttoned up by this weekend...
also just ordered my SECOND recaro so the lady will get to rock one to deals as well! also on got some RCI camlock harness for a steal (i love ebay!)
momo seat rails in
one door doneeee
just because im in love with my rims, posting this againa ahahha<33333

Tanks =)
So todays agenda was to resolve the transmission sensor issue as well as vinyl the chassis.
I've been putting this off forever since i DONT enjoy dropping the tranny especially just to switch 2 sensors. i HATE being on my back. Any who i sucked it up and began tearing it apart. I got to removing the midpipe and the sensors were perfectly visible. I was like wtf. last time i remembered i couldnt reach it...... so over to the shop manual and i was looking at the wrong sensor BUT i was still able to reach the correct one. however space was VERY limited so it was difficult to fit any tool up there.
soooooooooooo i made this. MY custom bubble tech, tranny sensor fckup remover socket. essentially like an o2 sensor socket except 24mm size and a 12mm bolt head.
coupled with alike 8" 3/8 breaker bar and a cheater bar, i got it loose. VICTORY, i didnt have to drop the transmission
BUT of course, the brittle sensors broke. well one was already broken and i broke the second wire taking it off.. being cheap that i am, and being impatient to get a new one, i did a little rebuilding.
broke off the cap to reveal connection points (kept the top to cover it back on)
there was just enough wire inside the cap to allow me to crimp the connector back on
cap cover back on
Heat shrink
DONE.
so with that out of the way, i vinyled the chassis and put the doors back on!
Also did another test run with some scraps on the rear bumper and it looks like i should be okay!
So the only things left to be vinyl'd are the roof, front and rear bumper, and the fender vents. I ran out of vinyl because of my boo boo's so i need to order a little more for the rear bumper ( as long as i dont mess the other pieces up)
Ill be picking up the rims tomorrow, and the car should be vinyl'd and buttoned up by the weekend.
To do list
Duct for oil cooler x2
cold air ram intake? (idk if this will be done before deals as i havent planned how to make it)
make sub box
install oil temp gauge
paint roll bar
retro fit stock sliders to recaro seats
rear diffuser
wire power switch for water meth
trouble shoot boost controller
dump tube for WG
NEW EXHAUST?!?!?
