Messed around at a prototype of the passenger side foot rest. i totally botched the mapping of the circles. but i didnt want to spend hours figuring out exactly where to place them. also one of the angles is off and i forgot to notch the floor plate to compensate for the A/C under the dash. This was an exercise for me to see if i could actually do it. took a few hours to figure out but now that i got the basic run through of it, it shouldnt take too long after i figure out the spacing i want to use for the holes.
This is much like the other replica versions except im using dimple dies to add rigidity as well for that "race car"-ish look. The holes arent the same size as the OEM version nor the replicas. i have another smaller size i want to try out as well.
The replica version is made out of 10gauge aluminum (i believe, i forgot) and the one i made is 18g mild steel. the sole reason being because it was the only sheet metal i had at hand. I'm going to play around with the "hole mapping" in CAD and try to get a hold of some aluminum, probably 12-14g since the dimples add strength, i dont think it will need to be as thick.
pics the first pic is the replica version (idk which one its my friends) and second is my test piece

Looks good man!
Years ago, my car got broken into and the shop that was doing the repairs called in a guy that travels around to the various body shops and does nothing but restore door panels and other interior pieces that are damaged. He repaired my door panel on the passenger side with some special type of spray paint that ended up looking almost identical to the factory finish. He did both complete door panels so you could never tell after he was done.

dude this is an awesome build, Im envious. I'm Restoring my FB GSL-SE and it scares me the amount of work you put into this. but excites me at the same time. what Engine mods are you going with? are you planning to tune with a stand alone ECU platform, on single turbo or bi-turbo set up?
#632
Thank you thank you. engine mods are pretty much done. only thing left really is to get a twin power..
engine mods..
ra super seals
hbp/exhaust porting
rx8 e shaft
blah blah blah...
yes i have the power fc but last time i went to get tuned my BC was leaking and couldnt hold pressure so its semi tuned to my 10psi wg spring.
im single turbo'd and staying single. running a bw s366

tai- its really not that hard as long as you have the right tools.. you really only need a metal brake an some way to cut the metal (im using a foot/stomp shear) along with a 12" bench top shear.
as for the holes im sure a bi-metal hole would work, im using a knock out punch set.
lol abdul im farrrrrrr from working on the interior lol just messing around with stuff =)

victory! just ordered a new 5th gear syncro and a seal for where the drive shaft meets the transmission from mr ray crowe!
ironically this is the second one ive ordered and i could have sworn it was like 43 bucks... turns out it was only 26 bucks! winning! +16 for the seal + shipping + $20 for tranny... so i got a working tranny for ~$75!

so I finally got around to swapping the tranny's out. but the best part is i reversed the sensors when transfering them to the new tranny. sooooooooooo my reverse lights are on in neutral....... given mazdas great design i will have to pull the tranny out completely in order to fix this. kinda bummed and havent really felt like working on the car because of it...
on the side note ive been getting a bit pumped since my friends and i are planning on going to deals gap this year! so ive been buying/window shopping A LOT lately.. here are the plans
My current project im working on is refurbishing my old broke JL Audio 10w6v2.
![](http://i426.photobucket.com/albums/pp342/muibenjamin/DSC_1558.jpg)
The foam broke while i was listening to it back in 07... JL quoted me 180 to fix it back then, which was insane cuz i bought em used for around 200....... being a hoarder like i am, i just kept it...... I dont remember how or why but i came across a repair kit! about time! I was about to drop another 200 on a digital design sub so a $30 gamble for the new foam ring seemed reasonable.
I finally got it today and went to work. MAN this was a huge PITA. since the foam ripped, i had to remove all of it to re-glue a new one. it took about 2 hours just to clean off all the foam. on top of that cut my finger doing it! bloody hell mate! so after 2 hours it looked like this

![](http://i426.photobucket.com/albums/pp342/muibenjamin/DSC_1562.jpg)
now that it is finally clean, time to glue the inner foam then outer foam. the dowel (aka chopstick) was used to push the cone up, otherwise the suspension? of the cone force downwards would have released the foam before it set.

few things planned....
On order
Stance GR+ coilovers (used)
2 sets of hood pins
3m cf vinyl wrap for the interior plastics
next purchases
3m matte white vinyl (exterior)
CF mirrors f1 style
front and rear tow hooks
aerocatch locking hood pins
fittings/hose to fit my R1 cooler to my bubble tech VMIC
so you may ask why im ordering 3 sets of hood pins.... basically i want to start rocking my car without the hood to show off the engine bay so im going to make a quick release hood. the regular hood pins will mount to the hood latches and the aerocatch latches will mount like regular hood pins. ive chosen to get the lock version as it will be my "locking" method. im going to delete the hood latch to clean the engine bay up a tadddddd bit more!
projects planned
quick release hood
vinyl exterior
modify 99 spec bumper
subwoofer box
possibly a intake box utilizing the hood scoop
under carriage braces
future plans
new steering wheel (ditching the red and black theme as it doesnt go anymore)
powder coat rims white
HOPEFULLY bucket seats
maybe spoiler?
Problems/issues
something is draining my battery
headlights dont work?
tranny sensors swapped
finish AI wiring
check to see if BC is working
thats all for now (even tho thats just half the list........)
