Adaptronic offers a lot of nice features but its nothing haltech hasn't really offered before. The plug and play feature is nice if you want the stock harness and wiring. But i wanted to clean up my electrical at the same time. As far as capabilities the sprint re (the ecu i chose) has slightly less resolution at 16x16 vs the adapt at 32x16. It cant run a/c or OMP (which i dont have) but it can do everything else. Boost by gear, adaptable tuning, etc. Pretty much comes down to what you want to do with it, and decided haltech would be the best option. I also spent 955 shipped for my sprint vs 1400 for the adapt.
I know this is an old post, but I wanted to clarify it for other who are still reading. We sell terminated harnesses or flying leads for universal boxes. The Adaptronic e402d is $944 with a flying lead. In addition to what you have listed it does ve tuning on a rotary. Other ecus in this price range list this, but they cannot be used in conjunction with staged injection( all rotaries run this way). In a nutshell the other ecus don't offer Ve tuning, this is a critical tuning advantage.

Nope this is the one at beef o brady's in NRH. Every sunday~!

@turblown

Ah I didn't know they had a non plug and play version. Would have been nice I suppose. The VE tuning for rotary is very nice though. I've been told it does work on the newer model haltech's and rotary specific haltechs. Either way I'm happy with my purchase.

Car has an exhaust now. 3in DP to 4 in straight thru. Loud as hell but super cool. shoots flames all the time. PROUD.

So some bad things happened. Car got overheated. I blew some blocked off coolant nipples. Drained my coolant fast and before I knew it we had problems. Anyways motor was cool for a while started getting harder to start though. Thought it was flooding because it was super rich (and untuned). Turned it on a few more times and about a week later I saw smoke on start up. Went by the exhaust and could smell coolant and I knew it was done. So I pulled the motor.

Made a roof wing though~! it turned out okay. Thinking of making a version 2 and molding it to produce for others who have asked. Also. stickers. Not for everyone but each one to me is in support of individual's in the car world.

Motor has been spec'd by Rotary Performance here in Garland TX. They told me the reman motor was assembled with brand new parts and probably had less than 15k miles. Which means I had a brand new, 0 mile motor when I bought the car. Go figure. All the housings and irons were mint and good to go. Time for porting and all that jazz when the money comes...

Also have this cool Bride Artis II out of Chunky Bai's old d1gp car that I got from Casey at shirtstuckedin. Super cool seat. Been trying to get one for a year now and this one has some really cool history Added some more stickers cuz its cool haha. The japanese above the HighTopFade sticker says "Deep Rim" for deep dish wheels, usually it has a <3 too. The MCR Factory sticker I got from Masashi Yokoi himself when he was here in Texas. TOO COOL. Anyways enough about that.

Also the carbon fiber wrapped gas lid is gone, picked this gem up from the guys with Circuit Soul. I felt it was fitting:

Side story: the last drive I got to have in the FD, I was pulled over driving to my new apartment. I was on the highway, had no front bumper, missing DS fender, low, loud, shooting flames and such. Cop flicks on the lights and I could only think of how many tickets he was going to give me. I pull off the highway thinking as I decelerate "please don't shoot flames, please don't shoot flames" and come to a stop. Cop comes up. I talk to him out of the sun roof because my window doesn't roll down. He tells me I was swerving and doing 80 (in a 60). I told him my speed doesn't work. he asks only to see my license which I got for him. He comes back in a bit tells me to drive safe and have a nice night. hands me my license and walks away. He stops then turns back around and says "hey you know your car shoots like 4ft flames when you were coming off the highway?" all I said was "really? thats cool" he replied "it was so sick, I've never seen that before."

No ticket. No warning.

Anyways sorry I haven't been updating much. Been busy trying to get stuff done haha. Also trying to get some money back from a forum member and a few other things. Car is stripped down pretty hard right now. Going to be respraying the bay and a few other things. Also probably getting a full re-wire. stay tuned!

kiku, sorry about the blown coolant seals man...

that's a lesson for you though: get a coolant temp gauge (with warning, preferably)

and don't worry about VE tuning. it's not really necessary, especially if you have a decent startup map. i'd rather have your haltech sprint RE, personally.

Looks like I missed tonight, I'll try and make it in my beater some Sunday if I'm ever off. Are you rewiring yourself? I'm really not looking forward to that portion of my build.

Jacob, definitely. But at least it was coolant seals and not apex seals. Nothing was junked so it should be fairly straightforward build. Plus I can finally get everything ported to make the power it should.

Yup rewiring myself. Ive done a couple other chassis. When you have like just the motor, a few accessories, lights, etc there really isn't much to wire in the end haha. Its still a PITA for sure but wiring up the haltech has given me some confidence and wiring up a few 240's has helped as well

Yeah if that was a Florida cop they would have impounded your car. I did have a run in with one cop who joked about my friend (tem120's) car saying "all that work and money in an fd and the guy is still riding on rotas?"

I guess every now and then you get a cool one

Working on stripping the rest of the wiring (which I pretty much did today but didn't take a pic) and remove all the unnecessary stuff out. might have gone full retard. not sure yet.

rubbing the front harness huh.

you could just like... i dunno, be a non-stancebrokid and just lift the car up 1/2" so it's not retarded.

That is how I fixed mine. Tying the harness back a little helps too. Weld a nut to the inner fender over a drilled hole, and use a metal strap with a button or pan head screw. Holds the wire harness less than .100" from the inner fender.

Rubbed the harness at 25" height and rubbed at 23.5. doesn't make a difference. harness was tucked but I broke a ziptie and it fell onto the wheel. No big deal. Its all gone.

Could I raise the car? sure. Will I? nope.
