Greddy elbow
And now to modify this GReddy to work with the factory parts. The new elbow did not come with the outlet to connect to the AWS hose. (Thanks Narfle for the insight) So in order to keep the stock or returnable to stock features I plan to retro this elbow to work. That's why this is so fun.
Then there is this little bolt that sits up high now holding an AC line that will need to be lowered to level the GReddy.
Not happy about the stock duct fittment with it either. Even if you trim the stock duct like the instructions say it is inferior in my, IMHO
It's bigger, taller x wider x thicker, it's bigger and the damn duct don't fit. WTH? Did they want 2" hanging out of the bottom and 3/4" off the side for the fan to blow on it? Pffffffff

Battery tray original
On the to do list, hide this in the storage box! Found in between the battery retainer posts is the clear plastic inspection panel that mounts to the black plastic battery surround. Try and find that at Walmart or whatever . Com. Should wrap it in bubble wrap

The greddy comes new with a metal piece of shroud that covers the intake hole and raises the duct to the top of the intercooler. So, that's part of the missing area. Haven't fit one in a long time. Lots of people use the pettit duct and trim it to fit.

Lots of people like the Koyo, but the fit is tight at best. Banzai made a nice post about how you can manipulate the stock brackets to make the Koyo fit better.
I went with a Ron Davis unit, which is a quality stock replacement. But, it's probably not as efficient at cooling as the much larger Koyo. There are other options and plenty of discussion threads to make up your mind.

Yes. A quality aftermarket radiator won't detract from the car. Like the aging AST, the plastic end tanks of the factory radiator are a liability at this age. Unfortunately, OEM replacements aren't as handy or cheap as stock ASTs.

I have a sickness
Ron Davis probably better known on this side of the pond, but ARC is strictly legit. Should probably just put the RD in and monitor temps. No problem no upgrade, right? Right?!? Help me...

Just curious, did you get a deal on the fluidyne, they seem pricey compared to the koyo N flow and it seems like the koyo should drop in even with the battery tray.? Don't you have an upgraded SMIC and intake too? Just curious why you chose what you chose.

i dont know how accurate they are but the gentlemen on the phone told me they are the only ones selling them now since they bought off the rest of them .
i dropped it in with out any modifying , still the stock battery tray, even the stock airbox too. it just a thicker radiator didnt change the geometry much from my eyes. how ever i did have to wiggle around the Greddy SMIC and find the right spot to bolt it down since im keeping the stock airbox. 1 section of the airbox bolt needed to be trimmed for better clearance. everything around that area is a tight fit but not so much to where it bothers me.
my last FD came with a fluidyne and it never gave me any issue so i just went with what im familiar with thats all . i owned that FD from 09~12 and never once gave me any problem and thats not counting the PO ownership of the radiator. i sold the FD to a fellow forum member and it doesn't seem like hes got any issue either.
i heard good things about KoyoNflow. so its just personal preference i guess? go with witch ever you like

Thanks for the input!
Of course I always find a deal on a part after I purchase one, here is a HKS Twin Power out in Miami if anyone is looking! $325 with harness. Buy it up and flip it, damn things are gold now!

The more I do the deeper I get..
So with the rad on order I figured I would start the y pipe and get the belts off. Not so much of a hassle except to do it. You just need to go ahead and pull it all out. Make it easy on yourself, pull it all off. I thought as low miles as it is I may be able to salvage gaskets, Mistake! Even though around the turbo ports were whole I didn't want to warp the flanges with tightening. OCD. Have to break and order gaskets. Was a good time to stop and get fender covers anyway, more OCD! Tired of wiping sweat and smugges off of the car. No belt buckles here.
Notice the rusted battery tray bolt and the brand new Mazda bolts withe the y pipe. you'll see what I mean about the gaskets too.
Next is to drain anti freeze and pull fans and radiator.

Rats nest good?
Could it be that I need to leave my vacuum lines alone? Everywhere I look I cannot find a brittle line. I poke and a prod and I haven't found one yet. See pics where the screw driver points and where I have obviously been. Where am I not looking?

The PFC does not control the AWS, do not drill a hole in the Greddy elbow. Block off the AWS
