This is an exact quote of what I wrote to him through a PM. I don't consider what I wrote there a form of accusal. I simply said I expect any reputable seller to uphold those principles. He chose to interpret it the wrong way. Not my fault.
I'm not going back and forth with the comments I made. I later did call him a liar and I stand by that. I called him that after he started saying in this thread that he PM'd me constantly, which was simply not the case. Therefore, he was lying. I stand by the above comment you quoted.

1--you wanted more answers than you felt merlin was providing.
2--merlin gives you a # to call if you want more info.
3--you refuse to call that number...!?!?
I guess you didnt really need any more info than what merlin provided after all. This 'holier than thou' attitude makes no sense to me--you act as if one phone call is too much trouble to go through when you are looking for your part. ITS ONLY A PHONE CALL, so please, get over yourself. I am certain it wouldnt have killed you, and like I said, if you really needed more info, I have no doubt that you would have called it. You come off as a reasonably intelligent person, so I do feel that you would have called if you really felt that merlin wasnt telling you the whole story as he knew it. Which leads me to believe one thing--the only reason youre complaining about "not getting enough contact" is to complain about this guy.
I won't be adding anything to this thread from here on out.
Anyways, I'm done with this thread.
Anyways, I hope you get what you paid for.

Thanks to SonicRat I received the part today! It's not in the same condition as described but it doesn't matter at this point.
Rx7roller02: You seem like a reasonably intelligent person yourself which is why I find it so surprising that you have just decided to solely focus on only one of the issues I raised regarding my transaction with XxMerlinxX.
Re Lying Comments: If you keep taking my comments out of context of course you'll make me seem as if I'm waivering. When I wrote this:
It was in response to your comments about you thinking I thought XxMerlinxX was lying about the transaction details as they occurred. I never said anywhere that I believed XxMerlinxX was being dishonest about the situation over at UPS and the mistakes in shipping. I expected a reasonably intelligent person to be able to keep up with this.....Apparently I need to stop giving people the benefit of the doubt.
When I said this comment:
Well, that should be self-explanatory since I already explained it .
In Summary: Roller, I don't know where you read that I thought XxMerlinxX was lying to me about the transaction details because that was simply not the case. I said he was lying when he mentioned he was PM'ing prior to my having to constantly do so. Got it? I really hope so.........This really doesn't seem tooo confusing.
This is also why I didn't need to call his UPS store. I was already in communication with SonicRat and if anything I would've called his store first if I thought anything fishy was going on. I just didn't appreciate the fact that XxMerlinxX couldn't ever be the one to initiate a PM and keep me informed. Hell XxMerlinxX himself said back in this thread that he didn't contact me for long periods of time because he "expected" the UPS store to take care of everything. Obviously his "expectations" were wrong !

Also, the "details of the transaction" most definitely, in my eyes, include both whether or not he told the truth about UPS, AND the contact issue you raised. Since both communication and shipping are important details in any sale, you should be able to easily see where I am coming from there. Dont try to subtly insult my intelligence because you dont think the same way I do--you dont want to start throwing stones with me, trust me on that one. Kindly keep your comments polite and without any of this insinuation garbage, or keep them to yourself. I certainly made no such gesture in your direction, dont make one in mine. In fact, when I brought up your intelligence, it was simply done to prove a point that I believe you're no dummy, and had you felt that more communication was truly needed I feel that you are smart enough to go after it....which you did not.

I don’t like to get upset nor do I enjoy starting fights with people over the internet. At the same time however, I’m not an idiot and I don’t like the feeling that I’m being taken advantage of.
Ok, look--this is the problem in a nutshell---you wanted him to do more than he did. WHAT? What exactly could he have done? Let's think about this for a second...
you got all bent when he said that the third party may possibly have been dishonest. WHY would you get all bent? He doesnt personally know sonic.....and the fact is that he is getting conflicting stories. DID HE COME OUT AND SAY "THE OTHER GUY'S LYING? No, he didnt. he suggested the possibility. AGAIN, what would you have had him do? Release the package to be sent without knowing that sonic really did send it back? PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN ON THIS FORUM LONG ENOUGH HAVE GOTTEN SCAMMED THEMSELVES THAT WAY. You are actually expecting that, because UPS screwed the rooster, that he take a chance at getting possibly scammed himself? Get a grip there. That's ridiculous...."I dont care if you lose out, just give me mine....", huh??? Nice thought process. How many sellers in here are selling parts to get screwed over?
Now, before you try reading so deeply into that like youre good at, I have dealt with sonic before, and I do not think that he would scam anyone....but merlin did not deal with him before, so how would he know?
In the end, just as I said before, you are unhappy because of how this went down, and rightly so. I have no dispute there--my issue is with the fact that you cannot place blame where it belongs. Several times you were asked what he could do to handle it better and the best answer you could give was "fix it and get me my part". He answered all the questions you asked. He made the effort with UPS to find out what their malfunction was. he spoke with the other buyer to get his end of things. When he had no update for a week, it was because he expected that UPS was shipping your part to you in that week. HE WAS MOST LIKELY WAITING TO HEAR FROM YOU WHEN IT ARRIVED....and he's supposed to check in with you for that? Sorry, I just dont see it. Keeping your buyer informed, thats one thing, but when something's happening that naturally is going to take some time, you shouldnt be getting all bent over it when he doesnt PM you then.
Again, this is simple--so he didnt handle the sale the way you would have done. That in no way means he didnt do enough. It doesnt mean that he did something wrong. It simply means you are two different people that do things differently. SO IS EVERYONE ELSE. The minute he heard of a problem, he went to work to fix it. He counted on UPS because they identified the problem and assured him that they would fix it. Sure, UPS screwed up this one, but they ship packages by the millions every day, and EVERY shipping service screws up. how in the hell can you legitimately blame him because "he chose to use UPS", like you have countless times?
dude, give it a rest already. twice you misunderstood my posts. twice you thought I was not getting it, when you were too busy expecting me to follow your exact line of thinking as my own. Twice you said you were done with this thread and yet you still keep posting. Let's end it right here and now--you paid for a part. Merlin shipped it exactly as promised. UPS screwed up. Merlin worked to fix the problem. In the end, you got your part. I still dont know why you didnt just take sonic's offer and then try to settle it up with merlin afterwards....the guy was 100% willing to help you out and you turned it down. Sometimes, you need to can the whole "it is the principle" bit and work that part out later on--if nothing else you hopefully learned that much from this. Glad that you got your part. With all due respect, in the future, I would appreciate it if you would not try to buy anything that I may sell. No disrespect,. but when someone at the shipping place screws up you are way too quick to pull out the "am I being scammed" mindset. you could have helped to solve this much faster if you didnt have the chip on your shoulder about it.
Good day.

Well, now, apparently it is confusing, because you obviously lost the entire point of my posts. You didnt understand my intent, you wrongly thought I was thinking like you do, and you made no allowance whatsoever for any different kind of point of view from me, even though I addressed several different aspects in this thread. No matter though, because it's all about "my" being "confused" and taking things out of context, right? Good call, son.

I will "respectfully" agree to disagree with you. You don't need to believe this, but I actually have a lot of respect for the help you provide forum members with. Over the years, I've noticed in a lot of cases that you were the one who made a difference and managed to solve the problem.
You were correct in saying other people have viewpoints and interpretations different than myself. So, it should be no surprise then that I interpreted your intelligence comment differently than what you had intended. I didn't appreciate you insulting my intelligence (Which is how I chose to interpret it) so I decided to throw some comments out there of my own. Anyways, I'll apologize and refrain from doing so again .

I'm not really sure what you're talking about in reference to Sonic's offer? I would have GLADLY taken Sonic's offer to ship me my part, but XxMerlinxX didn't allow us to do so. He said he would take care of everything with the UPS store. Besides, why should I have to pay for shipping twice?

Finally, that last paragraph was uncalled for. I've had hundreds of transactions go off without a hitch and like I mentioned earlier I've also run in to problems in the past. I've managed to handle them all without having to expose anything or everything publicly. I wouldn't have even posted this thread had XxMerlinxX not been so damn adament about me going forth and doing so.....
I hope, with all due respect, that there will never come an instance where I need to purchase anything from you. I have nothing against you Roller, but if you want to take that approach with me then I will do the same.
Later,
Riz
P.S. I came back to this thread for a couple of reasons:
1- Because I said I would after receiving the part.
2- As I have chosen to interpret them, you keep making insulting comments towards me. Plus, bring up points that I'd like to address. If you agree to stop, so will I...........

As for uncalled for, no it was entirely appropriate because I do not prefer tro do business with someone, regardless of what they have managed to "keep out of the public" in the last, who looks this far to have something to complain about, blames one person for the actions of someone else, and talks out both sides of his mouth. First you called him a liar, then you said "I never EVER said that" and then, once it is shown to you, you dont understand why someone gets the idea that you are being less than honest. Thanks, but no thanks.

Sorry, I missed the question the first time you posted it.
Anyways, the part is extremelly scratched up. I had plans to polish it anyways but I don't think that will be possible anymore since a lot of the damage is not surface scratches.
Oh, and before Roller decides to pick apart what I just wrote above, I'm not being particular just to complain. I consider my car a show-car and it's been built accordingly. I always ask for the condition of the parts I'm purchasing and this part didn't arrive as expected. I'll make it work, but since you guys asked I told you.

I'll take pictures if you'd like Porter. Do you want me to send them to you or post them here? There are scatches literally everywhere on the piece and some are seemingly very bad .

I don't understand how there could be scratches all over it. The following is the picture I sent to you before I shipped it. I mentioned the scratch in the upper right hand corner which you can see, barely as it's not even a heavy scratch. If there are more scratches than that, I don't know where they'd be from, and I'd like to see them. You can send the pictures to me or post them up here, either way.
Edit- I took that picture and darkened it up some in photoshop so that any other scratches that were on there would be more easily identified.

I had no intention of "picking apart" your complaint of scratches, so get over yourself. Why are you so ignorant? All I wanted was for you to state what was wrong with it, since you complained about the condition it arrived in. How can someone pick apart a complaint like that when I have no way of seeing the scratches youre talking about?? Now youre just being a jerk about this.
If you had any sense about me in this section you would know that I ALWAYS expect a part to arrive in the condition it was advertised to be....so again, get the hell over yourself. If it is scratched that is a legitimate concern. Anything else you wanna try to put words in my mouth over, or will you finally give it a rest?

Give me a day or two. I'm slow at uploading pictures, but I'll try and have them up quickly. It's in much worse shape than the pictures you posted. I'm not blaming anyone at the moment since I really don't know whose fault it is. It looks bad though.........

I took one quick picture yesterday, but it should give you an idea of the condition it's in:
The most significant damage is in the upper left hand corner. It's dented up pretty badly in that spot. If you'd like more pictures or close-ups of anything else let me know. The under-side is in even worse condition than the top-side.

I completely agree, that looks terrible. When the UPS store boxes stuff, they fill it with peanuts, or that's supposed to be what happens. Even if they didn't put peanuts in there, there's no way a cardboard box is going to damage it like that. I don't know what to do now. Fedex is the one who shipped it to you and I doubt they'll cover it and UPS is just going to tell me to contact Fedex. I think I may have to go to my credit card company and have them reverse the charges, but that's gonna be even less money gone, I only did around $75 worth of business with them that day.
On a side note, did the washers and mounting hardware come with it? If not, someone's opened it somewhere along the way.

Was there insurance on the Fedex package? It literally looks like someone took the footrest and dragged it on the ground, especially there on the left where there are two vertical lines side by side.
