VP M3 Methanol - be Cautious

A friend of mine has been going through air temp sensors, 2 so far in about 2 months, he also rarely drives the car but when he does, he is on boost all the time. He was annoyed and thought it was something maybe with my tuning or the TEC3 wiring. I ended up ordering a sealed air temp sensor from Enzo Racing.

Talking with BDC and a few others, no one else I know ruined any air temp sensors so I did some more searching online and read about VP M3 and the new M5 methanol.

I called my friend and asked if he is using the M1 that all of us use or the newer M3. Turns out he was using the M1 for about a year and the local speedshop ran out so he bought the M3 instead, that's when the sensors started going.

I also called cooling mist and they stated to run 100% pure methanol, no additives. Looks like it can also affect the pump from what I am reading below.

I'm not 100% sure if that the cause but posting just incase...

Good one Anthony. Just talked to Julio Don at Alkycontrol a minute ago. He said the same thing bout M3 but also M5 because of the additives. Over the past 5 years of the 30-odd pump failures he's had, they've 100% been due to some sort of petroleum additive in the alcohol. Seems to me we oughta look for the ultra pure methanol stuff alone.
