HFS-6 and the Summer module - Is it needed?
Hello people!
I'm trying to get onto the AI bandwagon as I can see the advantages by using it. I have my 93 FD with the PFC; boltons; stock twins with a streetport engine with stock injectors. I have a rough tune which keeps me rich but my injector duty is getting high.
Now the tuner I plan on using is very familiar with the HFS-6 unit but not so much on using it with RX7's. When I asked him about the summer module he was not too familiar about it.
Soo, I have tried to look for info on it and I think I understand what it does by reading primary and secondary injectors then "summing" their signals to give an output to the HFS unit to supply the AI.
Now is this a requirement or can the system be run without it? Or will the module give me a better setup. I'd rather have a great setup than to compromise now for a few dollars more.
Thanks in advance!

You can always run without it but I wouldn't suggest it if you plan on tapping in to the injector duty. I's say that without the summer I might stick with boost pressure or something.

This is what Richard pm'd me.
"The summer is not strictly necessary unless you have large primary and secondary fuel injectors.
It most cases, anyone one of our IDC based system can inject water/methanol based on the secondary injector. The standard ECU start the secondary injectors from 25% on as soon as the promary injector reaches 50%.
For this application, you can ignore the signal from the primary injector.
Richard"
So guess its up to the user and tuner how to set it up.
Thanks Richard!
