I don't know much about Cairns or Sydney, but if you're driving between the two there is plenty to see around the Gold Coast/Sunshine Coast (either side of Brisbane.)
Maybe some Sydney/Queensland people can give you a better idea of what to do and where to go, cmon fellas help out the newlyed (congrats on that btw)

I would love to see some Rotarys while I was there!! It would be cool to see all the interesting things you guys do. Thanks for the info. I dont know where I'll be driving through those are the only 2 cities that I know I'll actually be staying in.
But yeah guys any help would be great. If you know of anything car related or just sightseeing in general would be great!

I'm not from Sydney or Cairns, but I just got back from a conference in Cairns yesterday. The great barrier reef is a definate must see. Go diving an snorkling. Need a diver's license for diving, but you could dive with instructors. The Green Island is quite nice. The accomodation on Green Island looks good too, but expensive. Think it wa about AU$500 per night. but you get privacy. Its like a spa retreat. Scenic helicopter rides, and rain forest walks are good as well. You should rent a car (preferbly 4wd)and drive around. It makes travelling so much easier. Seafood is very good.
Hope your honeymoon goes well.
Cheers,
Jon

Guess it varies a little with what you actually want to see, but in Sydney you can goto the Blue mountains, Jenolan caves, Opera house, harbour bridge, centre point tower, Lunar park (theme park right on the harbour), harbour cruises, jet boat rides. There are a number of good beaches around. Heaps of different restaurants, night clubs.
Take a look at http://www.visitnsw.com.au/ should help you out a bit.
Queensland has a bunch of stuff, such as 3 different theme parks and more out doors activities, but it's been over 4 years since I was there last.
Check out http://www.queenslandholidays.com.au/
Hope that helps

Ha funny you should post about those two cities, When I cam back from Iraq the first time in 03 we stopped by Australia, First was Sydney and then Cairns, I had a total blast in both cities, but you probably won't be doing a lot of drinking since its a honeymoon but, it is so great just being there, I visited a lot of the tourist spots saw a many bad as cars, they have everything japan has bunch of skylines, silvias, I saw some FC'S and FD'S, well I think you will have fun regardless. I miss you AUSTRALIA I will be back some day
