AEM into FC

Has anyone installed AEM Universal into the FC? I searched and did not find the answer i was looking for. Since they dont make a specific ECU for the FC (that i have seen) then you would have to get the universal one. Is there any tricks you have to do to get the car and ECU understanding each other? Im trying to figure out if this ecu is exactly what i want to buy. If somone gave me a brief run down on it and a 13bt in a FC that would be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone can get them for a good deal lmk the price and what its including. THanks, Russ

I just used an FD ecu. New connectors are easily and relatively cheaply available. I "believe" you can also use a 1G dsm box, one of the Honda boxes, etc. and it will work fine. If you like, feel free to pm me for my number and I can run down exactly what I did.

Also, if you happen to have an S5 FC the AEM ECU will plug into the connectors and you only need to swap a few pins around.

The Banzai Racing power FC adapter harness will work with an AEM EMS if you want the most plug-and-play solution.

If you're interested in using AEM, I would wait for the new EMS-4. Specs look to be quite the nice box at a low cost.

^^^^^ This is true, but will not be exactly plug-and-play. The EMS-4 also holds a lot of promise for ATV's and snowmobiles modded past the ability of the stock ECU to control. Have a friend chomping at the bit to put one on a race quad.

Depends on who you're getting it from and their ability to build the appropriate harness.

I put a 30-1800 in a turbo II swapped convertible. I used the FC Cas, FD water and air temps, FC tps, FC leading coil, FC modified trailing coil, GM MAP. I used the #4 plug from the car. I just hastily swap a couple of pins around and then I made my own engine harness. Everything went pretty easy. No major problems.

Banzai racing makes an adapter to put a Power FC ecu into FC's. Just buy their kit and plug in the AEM EMS. It will work just the same. You will still need to modify the trailing coil igniter to get the trailing coils to fire properly.
