Adaptronic PWM Decisions/Setup

Setup
e440d Universal Select ECU;

S5-13BT Block
S6- UIM with Sensors, TB, and Idle Control Valve
EFR Turbo With boost control
Electric Power Steering Pump MR2
Electric Water Pump
160A Alternator
Electric Radiator Fan(s)
AEM Smart Coils (4)
550CC Primaries
1600CC Secondary’s
RRFPR Aeromotive 1000-6
340Lph Aeromotive Fuel Pump

So here is the Low down, I am restomoding a S5 RX-7 with a CanBus Electrical system to rid myself once and for all the electrical problems that have plagues every FC I have owned. So alot of the electrical system can be controlled by this system except things like Radiator Fan, Electrical Water Pump, The Fuel pump is correctly powered by this system.

So here is the problem I would like to run the following things which require a PWM output
Boost Control (Integrated with EFR Turbo)
Idle Control (streetability in Canada (Various Temperatures))
Electric Water Pump
Direct Fire Ignition (4 AEM Smart Coils)

Now the problem lies in that I can not determine what is the best configuation;
Do I go with waste spark, and run the Boost Control and Water Pump without Idle control (my least favorite option due to still having AC/ Large alternator with varying electric loads, and varying temperatures)
Do I go with Direct Fire, and run the Water Pump and Idle Control, and get an aftermarket boost controller?
Do I go with Direct Fire, and run the Boost Control, and Idle control, and get an aftermarket Electric Water Pump Controller?

I have not yet removed the Adaptronic from the box Yet And installed it I realize now that maybe I should have opted for the e1280s. But at the time I was not aware that I would need the PWM to go direct fire.

Advice?

I'm running a plug & play on my FD, using all three PMW outputs.

Direct fire CDI coils
Wastegate
ISC...

I love having the ISC hooked up living in Alberta... so much easier to start/drive, having said that it takes effort to set up properly

Friend is doing the same but is using a Craigs Davis EWP setup...

It's the easiest one to run separate, plus not that expensive for a pump controller...

That would be my suggestion...

The Davies Craig EWP controller is great. In my view, the algorithm it uses is superior to plain duty vs temperature control you would have as an aux output from the ECU. The DC controller gives intermittent pulses of 3V output to the EWP during the warmup phase. This ensures heat is evenly distributed throughout the block while simultaneously allowing the engine to reach operating temperature as quickly as possible. It also continues to operate the pump after shutdown to prevent heat soak. This is not the same as a turbo timer, as only the EWP and fans run, not the whole engine.

The fan side of the controller is not as flexible as the Adaptronic thermofan function, as the on/off temps are fixed by reference to the EWP target temperature.

I would get the DC controller for the EWP (and possibly also fans if you need to) and use the Adaptronic for direct fire ignition, boost control and idle control.

Don't you also need PWM control from the MR2 power steering pump and map it against vehicle speed? Or are you just going to run it full-time?

I have been looking at the Davies Craig Water Pump PWM controller, however I want to run a Meziere water pump bolted to my radiator when I weld the flange onto it. that way the water pump is out of the way and is supported by more than just the hoses and wiring. I have contacted the maker of my CanBus system InfinityBox (formerly ISISpower) to see if they can program the PWM output and Temperature input to control the Water Pump. They indicated they could, however they do not recomend it, as that one function will utilize approximately 40% of the computational capacity of the system for only one function.

The MR2 MRS Power Steering pump only needs a VSS signal, I will be using an FD VSS on my car, and will just tie into the signal, feed the power steering pump, speedometer, and cruise control units with the same signal.
More info here;
www.mazdaspeedy.com: Toyota MR-S Electric power steering pump conversion

So after looking into this a bit further I guess the least desirable route for me will be the most reliable;
Infinity box will control the entire electrical system of the car, save for the Electric Radiator fan and Water Pump.
The Adaptronic will control the engine, with Direct Fire, Idle control, and Boost control.
The Davies Craig Pump controller will control the Electric fans and Water Pump. It will only control the electric Fan because I want them both to run after the car shuts down to ensure a faster cool down, reduces the run time after shutdown.

Any further input is still welcome, this is about 7 months down the road, working on stripping the car to bare metal now, and replacing damaged/rusted panels.

I'm surprised you're going with InfinityBox over the MoTec or RacePak options.

Otherwise, I completely agree with doing things that way, or going with another Adaptronic Unit (you can get ahold of who you bought it from and see what they offer you as options).

What are you doing as far as the rest of the powerplant configuration? You might like my build log...could open up a few doors for you.

new components/lines Except for the Evaporator which will be OE.

I think that is it for powerplant related stuff, just ask if I missed something.

Is your build log on the forum? The one in your Sig?

Infinity Box allows me to protect each output with a selectible fuse, Motec, and Racepak require external fuse boxes, more stuff and wiring to go wrong. Since I will need nearly 45 outputs , and 32 inputs I figured that infinity box gives me some of the features I want, such as key fob, and integral security no need to wire in aftermarket one. Where as motec, and racepak ones do not have the same provisions.

Also;
Motec is $10,000 US for the system that meets my needs
Racepak is $4,500 US for the system that meets my needs
Neither has the ability to run an integrated key FOB, or run integrated selectable fuses. For price and versatility; Infinity box won.

That's a hell of a good point. So you're probably $2-3k into a full system with them and have the most badass, lightweight car wiring that meets your needs.

No, I have stalled due to body work raking way more time, and also because I am away from home more often this year than the last.

I have been researching this, I have found an electric sender that will work directly with the on board control board for the MR2 pump, so it will sense the speed signal and moderate the pump output accordingly. So I do not need a PWM output. The only missing piece is whether or not the steering angle sensor that the RX-7 has will be compatible with what the power steering pump is looking for as well. Sorry for the delayed response, but been unreasonably busy as of late!
