Would You Bid on This?

I dont understand why nobody has placed a bid on it, it's really a nice car. Definitely worth $16k+.

I for one don't like the idea of bidding on an already modded car. It makes me think that the person drove it hard, which isn't something you want in a used car (though most of the time it has happened). I also like the idea of doing the mods myself since I know that I won't cut any corners. There's only so much trust you can have in someone when they're selling a used car, and unless you have a great rotary mechanic that can look at it for you, you're really taking quite a risk when you buy a car that can be as picky as an FD can. That said, that's a dope car and I probably would have tried to buy it back when I was still looking for an FD. I love the red, and the R1 package is fly (plus you have the smooth interior panels, more ticks on the tach, and the stiffer springs in the R1 (vs. R2) package).

That car is a very good buy. 1st about modding the car yourself...that car is practicall stock and you really would have a hard time installing a catback and an intake wrong...plus yeah I'm sure its been driven hard...there's a virgin engine in there. I think that makes up for the hard driving that it has had in the past. new paint costs a bunch too.

Yep thats right... You should check out most of my auctions that I have won... If you look at the bid history my bids usually take place about 3 or 4 seconds before it ends.... Its great....

They should do it like egghead used to do. If a bid is placed within 5 minutes of the end of the auction, the bidding time get extended 5 minutes after the latest bid. Sniping eliminated and seller get more green.

Hey guys, this was my car. I reported it here in the past and said I'd sell it on eBay. I used it as a daily driver and it was NOT driven hard.

I had the problem with Mazda refusing the warranty (old thread https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...threadid=26533)

I ended up paying for the engine myself; with new injectors the bill came to $5100 after substantial discounts. Drove it home and sold it. This was my last Mazda, unfortunately. Bad experiences with this one.

The guys interested in this car were really smart - they did not jack the price in the days leading up to it. They waited till the very end. Only three interested parties in the final ten minutes. One dropped off at $18k, the other two dueled it out until they ran out of time. Of course this hurt me but I was committed to the sell.

Car sold for $18700. This was a steal for the buyer. I believe it is worth 20 or 21. This is one hell of a car. Brand new motor with all mechanicals in perfect shape. Sweet exterior, nice paint job, wheels, etc. Nice interior. All the right aftermarket goodies already on it. Now it's up to him to enjoy and take care of it.

To Tom in Chicago ... well done, smart move. Congrats.

Most of the automotive auctions with a new ebayer (0 feedback) as the high bidder, dont go through. Hell, most of the automotive auctions dont go through (even if the sellers and buyers have some nice feedbacks).

I have bought 2 vehicles on ebay within the past year. Fortunately my transactions went well. I think the key, at least for me, was communication.

I always speak to the sellers before I make any decisions or bids. This way you can hammer out any problems, concerns, or questions if you were to win the bid.

Logistics, price, timeframe....whatever it is that helps both parties understand whats to be expected.

Hey, im the current owner of the car, i won it for 18,700 on ebay. I, as many people do, put in my bid at the last second too but i used proxy bid just incase also. I think this car is worth every penny i paid for it. I am planning to put a lot more money into the car and am going to post my list soon. I would love if every one could tell me what the think and tell me what i need and dont need. And for "Mightyslash" that said most ebay members with 0 feedback on their name dont make the deal go through..... bit me, i sent all the cash in 24 hours and had no problems with the deal. Ill be checking up every now and then with what people have to say about my mods and hope everyone can help me out.
THANKS, TOM

Damn thats one hell of a list. But i might suggest adding more fuel than just a fuel pump. Maybe larger stock injectors... or extra injectors on the greddy elbow. Good luck with the project. ANd if you are buying the greddy t-78 kit, it comes with a filter. I think Haltech does come with an optional boost contoller. and i don't think you need the rebic or afr...

might wanna get your engine ported as well... stronger or larger apex seals if you plan to run higher boost.

i think there was an rx7 with most of these mods on it already for sale for around 25k or so... might have saved you some serious dough buying that one..
good luck with the project.

Well i was talking to a salesman from an import shop and he said if get the rebic iv that it comes with two 7500 injectors that are perfect for the engine. So your saying if i get the haltech i shouldnt get the rebic or afr but i need new injectors? For then engine porting, the same salesman told me that he did an rx-7 before and he put on 3mm apex seals, are they good? where can i get them? and do i have to send the engine to some shop to do that?

You have to do a complete engine rebuild to port the engine or add 3mm apex seals. You should spend some more time learning about FDs before you blow that one up.

I wanted to get 18" by 10" rims in the back and 18" by 8" rims in the front. Will they fit on the stock 1993 RX-7?

hee hee you call that last second??? The 674701 person tried to pull a fast one on you. He put in a bid with 4 seconds left. Now thats some ebay snipering. But thats one hell of a list you have there for mods. And as long as you are happy with the car and truly believe its worth it... Then who the hell cares what others say. Please do keep us updated on your car.
