thanks, where did you get the numbers from? so this is total produced by manufactured date? it can't be by model year since 93 at least 13,000 were imported to US.

It answered your question, didn't it?

IMO it's pretty good. It shows prototypes for each gen, their sales history, and the different models offered for each gen in the US, UK, and Japan. It talks about Mazda's first cars, which was actually a truck . It also talks about the development about the rotary, our race history, the Evolve, the RX-8, and it shows different ads for each gen. It has a lot of nice and interesting photos.

Anyone know if you can find out what # the car is by the vin or something, because the date on the door in my R1 says 02/92, thats got to be a early made one I guess. almost in 91.. lol

'93 VR R1 with production date of 01/92. I am not sure if I am reading the VIN right but if I am the car is like the 803rd...

It took some pulling of teeth to have those #'s gathered too. I think they have them available now, but much research had to go into it all. Mazda took one week to get back to me for all those figures.

I thought it was a total of about 13,000 '93s through '95s were imported? I can't find my reference now, but as of 18 months ago, there were less than 7,000 still registered in the US.

of the 13,000 fd's that we imported, is that ONLY the united states? or does that include canada? if not does anyone know how many were brought into canada on top of how many were brought to the US?
