wingless/kitless
i'm trying to understand if the whole put a wing on/no keep it off or yes to body kits/best kit is no kit is related to ones age. would i be wrong in saying that generally, the older guys like FDs with no wings and no kits etc…maybe just wheels while younger guys like them with some sort of wing, even if it were a stock r1 wing and body kits or just something to make the car look just a little bit more aggressive?

Maybe the older ones see that wings and kits serve no real purpose and that they are little more than transient automotive fashion that you may be embarassed if shown a picture of what you did five years from now?

Look how much vans with **** carpeting and murals are wanted now.

im 20 and looked for a long time for a car wihtout a rear spoiler. I dont see why anyone would want to tack on aftermarket crap to an rx7. Especially when that money can be used to make it perform better.

You have a point Robinson. I think some of that has to do with the fact that the younger owners have grown up in an era where half the family sedans have rear wings. And people try to make any type of vehicle look more aggressive and sporty -- love it when I see a lowered full-ton duellie
Personally, I think ALL wings ruin the lines of the FD, even the stock R-model type. I also have yet to see an aftermarket body kit that I would want. Some of the front ends look ok, but I wouldn't get any of them. I'm even hesistant about the 99 front end.
But to each his own.

The RX-7 without a wing just doens't look right.
Is my R1 wing functional??? Thats a heated debate, but it sure looks a hell lot better to me with it then it would with out it.
I also like the Newer 99 Style wing and the RB Type 2 wing.

wingless stock fds...i think it depends on the color and condition of paint on car? I prefer them with stock r1 spoilers...over most aftermarket ones.
Body kits...some are nice and some aren't so nice.
i don't know about you guys but i like it when the same cars have different looks and behaviors. That's what keeps me interested...as long as everything is done in "good taste." It just wouldn't be any fun if everyone's cars are the same...there'd be no need for meets, get togethers, etc..

I think I agree with Toy. my tastes in kits are not the same as everyone else, but nevertheless... I always considered a 'Project car' to be a work of art in progress. Everyone has their own idea of how they want their masterpiece to turn out, so regardless of whether the critics approve or not, I'll always recognize it as art.
I just don't like the factory R1 spoiler (or lip for that matter). But for sure someone will not like my design, and that's okay.

Um, i don't mind spoilers. but i think wings are pretty gay
I am 23, and i have seen some tasteful kits, that i like, but i would never probably pay for one on a 3rd gen.
On my 1st gen, i have a IMSA Mk I GT3 kit, and it is there because it came with the car. but i do like it..

99.9% of the wings I see on street cars are at the local mall emitting subsonic noise.

Based on the hypothesis that a car is a reflection of one's self. So what does this say about ricers and tuners? To me this says a number of things. The most unsettling is the thought that newer generations really are getting more and more stupid.

It's like wearing two types of plaid, my g/f told me.. Some people like it, some people don't. Either way it's an opinion.
I still haven't decided on spoiler/no spoiler... time will tell
The Feed II Replica is for me, though.

BTW grampa, can you judge the use of a spoiler on a street car? I recognize your point, and it is valid. But who's to say the local 'ricers' dont go to track days? If I chose to get a spoiler, it will be for taste and for function; function prevailing.
Not all wings function at only 140 MPH. Otherwise, why do 911's have wings? Heck - the little tiny wing on my R/C car has a dramatic effect on stability.

At first, I was thinking of putting the R1 wing on my touring, but I've since fallen in love with the lines without a spoiler. I think the R1 looks good from certain angles, but from others it looks like it was designed for a Taurus.

Again, IMHO

Unfortunately I don't think there is any way to plug up the mounting holes without bodywork and re-painting.
Ferrrari's don't come with wings. Simple is better. Body kits remind me of the "cladding" on ALL Pontiacs.
What's wrong with **** carpeting anyway?
