Will the 'Universal' check valves from NAPA work??? Post your experience.
I have NAPA P/N 7301347, which is a universal check valve.
The guy I spoke to say it looked to be about 1/8" on one side, and about 1/4" on the other. Problem is.. I need about 3/8" and 1/4" to fix 4mm and 6mm, 1/8" is going to be entirely too small.
I want to know if anyone has used these $4.69 check valves, and if so... I will pick some up.
I need to get them today or tomorrow cause I am doing the vac job Saturday and Sunday, and I'd like to replace the pills.
Now since these are 'Universal' if I replace all 5 or so, is that going to **** up my engine operation at all?
Let me know....
Thanks a lot,
-Darren-

I used one on my last FD....it worked fine. Just a one way check valve....just make sure you have the open end going where the open end is supposed to go. I just used one of those cheap HELP! valves from the auto parts store.

I would just like to add that I in fact did have problems with these. After about 5000 miles, I destroyed two of them (broke in half). Take that with a grain of salt though, cause it appears that most everyone else has had good experiences, so maybe mine was just a fluke. Regardless, I've upgraded to McMaster-Carr valves instead.

Which one from McMaster did you buy? Perhaps and part number or link would help.

Check valves, part# 7775K61, $8.86ea
Brass nipples, part# 5346K81, $5.90 pack of 10
It may be overkill, but they work. I no longer have to worry about breaking another check valve. Besides, they're still cheaper than the OEM ones

I replaced some of mine with some from my Honda parts bin. Most hondas have every size you need and you can go to the junkyard and get buckets of them for pennies. The Honda brake booster one can be used on the purge control solenoid and for the brake booster line (if you replace the ratty/fried stock one). The Honda ones for the cruise control can be used anywhere else. If you're willing to put a non-Mazda part on your car, the Honda ones can definitely withstand the abuse. I have been around many boosted Hondas (as high as 18 psi) and have never once seen one fail.
