I just installed my AEM wideband over the weekend. I ended up having the bung welded where Crispy's is, which seemed to really work out great. You can mount the sensor vertically, and there's still about an inch clearance between it and the body, and plenty of room on the the tranny side. Plus, it's a straight shot up to the shifter hole which lets you get the wiring away from the exhaust and into the car in the shortest distance possible. The box mounted nicely under the console in the area under the tunnel at the back. Plus there's hotwires there that can be used. Ended up being a much easier install than I anticpated. Getting someone to weld the bung was the hardest part.

I dont really want to drive around with the wideband in the car all the time. Can't I just use the stock o2 sensor bung for tuning? If I weld on another bung what could I plug the hole with other than an old o2 sensor?

Are you talking about removing the stock O2 sensor and putting a WB in its place while you tune the car? I dont think that's such a good idea since the ECU needs sensor input from the stock O2 sensor.

If you weld in another bung for a WB sensor you could just use a bolt (coated with antiseize) to plug up the hole when the WB sensor is out.

You _can_ put the wideband where the stock O2 sensor is, but it's too hot there and will ruin it. The AEM wideband (not sure about the others) has a 0-1V output which can be wired to the ECU so that it doesn't act funny.

But the best solution is to just weld in the bung in the proper location, and then use a plug for the hole when you're not using it, like ludeowner said. The AEM comes with the bung and the plug.
