Why does 1st gear seem weak?

when i boost in 1st the acceleration seems kinda weak. but if im in 2nd or third the car pushes back into the seat. i thought 1st gear is supposed to be quickest or is something wrong with my car?

Check your turbo control actuator and its hoses to the soleniods.

do you have a boost gauge telling you want your engine is doing during the 1st gear pull?

What c00lduke said, you need to find out what you are boosting in 1st gear. When boosting properly, 1st gear passes so fast that I don't even know what the hell is going on.

First, you need to verify if your 1st gear is even boosting.

I've been told that the factory ECU limits boost in first gear to 8psi, in order to prevent wheelspin and stuff like that.

No such thing. Wheelspin happens from too much tq. or bad/cold tires. People break loose in first, second and even third gear.

RedRx7 apparently breaks them loose through 4th....But then again, thats what you get with a single turbo 20B!

and what happens with more boost? more torque. so limiting boost limits torque, other cars do do this (srt-4). but i've never heard of it on the FD.

just a nit pick.

I had this problem along with some other minor boost issues. They all went away when I replaced my turbo control solenoid.

If it's like mine, it's because the clutch is slipping.

hehe.
