I spent a lot of time going through your website yesterday....

If you can bring a 332 kit in under the following conditions:

*$2000 or less
*calipers fit most common 17" wheels -- Volk, SSR, CCW, etc
*easily replaceable rotors, ie, usually in stock

I predict you will sell many kits. I would certainly be very interested. Thanks for doing research here first.

DomFD3S,

KVR has four different applications for the FC:

12.4" rotor w/ 4-piston AP caliper - $2850
13.0" rotor w/ 4-piston AP caliper - $2850
13.0" rotor w/ 6-piston AP caliper - $4295
14.0" rotor w/ 6-piston AP caliper - $4750

Not exactly cheap but it is another option.

A 332 front kit at the $2000 price point will not be a problem if the kit goes to market. If people want anodized black because of price concerns...it will be less than that.

The calipers will be an iteration of our standard ST-40, which does fit a number of popular wheels.

Rotors are easy to replace, and we usually have them in stock. The absolute worst case scenario would be a couple of weeks until delivery. Normally, they go out the same day. Also, we use floating rotors, unlike some of the competitive kits for the RX-7 that I've been researching over the past week. Floating hats are far superior to fixed-hat 2 piece rotors. When a fixed-hat rotor heats up, it expands and causes something called coning. Imagine your rotor lying flat on a table. If you were to heat it up, the rotor would want to expand and grow outwards. If the rotor is fixed by a hat in the middle, and the rotor is trying to expand outward, the edges of the rotor would pull up off of the table...this is coning (obviously, the name comes from the shape that this would make...sort of like an upside down lampshade).
Now, imagine that rotor on your car doing the same thing. As you can guess, the pad would have a tough time making contact with the rotor if it's distorted. A floating hat allows the rotor some room to expand...the rotor stays flat, and pad contact on the rotor remains more consistent. If you look closely at one of our rotors, you'll notice that the hole on the rotor where the hat is attached is not a circle, it's an oval. It's designed to allow room for the rotor to expand. The next obvious question is, 'well why doesn't the rotor flop around then if it's an oval.' The answer is: because we use a special little washers on the drive pins to hold the hat in place so it doesn't rattle around like many of the two piece rotors out there. The devil is truely in the details.

J Ritt,

I have to mirror what ptrhahn has said. I know a lot of people here are talking about your kit fitting 17" wheels but you will sell more kits if you can get it to fit in our 16s. There are actually 2 kits that currently fit in our 16" wheels, neither of which is something I'd compare to a StopTech kit. My reasoning is that if I'm going to upgrade they have to fit in my 16s and be a good improvement over the already great stock brakes. I think owners of other cars may be more apt to buy larger wheels for an upgrade but our stock 16s are some of the lightest wheels out there and make great race wheels.

Don't get me wrong, I think a kit for 17s is a great idea but I probably won't buy a kit unless it fits in my old 16s. (I do have 17s but I like to swap them for track use.)

A kit for 18s will not sell well for our cars.
