Who wants to be the guinea pig on the new FAL lexan rear window?

FAL has released a rear (hatch) lexan windows replacement for the FD. just wanted to know if anyone has it already, or is planning on getting it, I'd like to know how it turns out.

those things marr really bad. my buddy ha a windsheild in his 951, and the thing is a bitch to drive in the daylight because of the small little scratches in the "plexi" the windsheild has done the damage. however, this is the rear window, and who knows what it would end up like. i would also like to know how the fibergalss rear hatch does if anyone has one, and uses it on the STREET..

Couldn't you put a clear tint or clearcoat over it so it wouldn't do that?

Also, is this any different then the CWest Hatch?
Anyone know the difference in weight?

I think its great that FAL took the chance making this for the FD, since there are fewer in Amercia everyday.
Maybe they will make one for the front winsheild and side windows as well?

Guinea pig or piggies, don't forget that Lexan windows are not legal on the street and also illegal in some racing bodies (SCCA?).

Maybe that's why they don't make windshields or door windows.

Or maybe because windshields are the hardest to get DOT approving on..

I do believe these windows are DOT approved (street legal). but of cours,e I could be wrong. :P

Since when will the entire thing be released? Damn with replacing all the glass in your car, you can save so much weight. Plus Flexite is stronger than glass and has less synthetic fibers giving it a clearer look to it. I don't see why they aren't street legal.

the tint sounds good to me, hell, that would eliminate any kind of scratching, IF the tint was strong enough and actually STUCK on the outter part of the car, not on the inside like "normal" tint does....

I will for sure get one when and if they do come out. Well, that is assuming it is priced right, like under say $700. Are you planning on getting one too Nik?

I dunno. I have a touring model, and I'm not sure how well the rear wiper and flex-a-lite windows would get along. But yes, I am interested.

Wow! I actually get to post instead of just read.

I have the rear window. It fits perfect.

Stock window = 18lb
Fal Lexan = 9lb

Have not driven it on the street yet, so I can't respond to the sun glare comment yet.

As for martini's question, I have the base model, no wipers. So I'm not much help on that one.

Would anyone drive this on the street? It seems like it should be a race car only application.

9 LBS ? It seems like you could not eat that big mac and you would be the same on the street

just my 2 cents

Every 7 lbs saved is like adding one horsepower.
