Who has the lightest FD?
I always hear about weight reduction... But, who has the car with the most of it? It has to have an engine and same or better performance than stock. lol What is the lightest an FD has weighed in at?

Mine is 2600lb wet w/o driver. And that does include quite a hefty cage.
I know Peter Farrell got his Bridgestone Supercar Series car down to roughly 2400lb wet. And that also includes a comparable cage. However, the extent of his efforts to make the FD that light are fairly prohibitive for the average enthusiast...
Of course, you didn't specify whether tube-frame cars should be included. If that's the case, then I am certain there are some examples out there that weigh far less.

mine is 2624lbs wet as measured on calibrated corner scales. this is without a cage though, and the car isnt done with its diet yet either. also as a note it has 49/51 front/rear and 52/48 side/side (both with driver) weight distribution, not bad.

Yes, I should clarify that my car was weighed on calibrated scales as well. The exact figure was actually 2595lb, and that was with about 10 gallons of fuel. Then I add roughly 175lb to that figure.

Another... if he actually has an FD, how is it that he apparently knows absolutely nothing about it? See the thread on someone else asking about cracks in their PPF and his sage advice on the subject...
And finally... what's up with the '04 SL55 listed in his signature? It's either mom and dad's car, or we've got another JoeD on our hands...

It sucks that its hard to get an accurate measure of your FD's weight. I'm going to add up everything i take out of my FD, and add what i put back in. I think 100lbs isn't too hard to do, with out comprimising safety. I know the stock wheels are light but is there a noticably lighter rim/tire setup for the street?
