Who has the best intake pipes?

I wanted to replace the Acordian factory intake pipes
this spring. I've seen M'2 and RX7 Fashion.

The M's suppose to be the same thickness of metal as their Intercooler pipes. Which I think is a little too thin.
And heat up too easy. I've had older Greddy IC tubes that were substantially thicker and kept out the heat
better. I use the M2 Large now.

Anyone know about the RX7 Fashion pipes? Are they thicker.

Anyone else have any polished intake tubes for sale?

And is it worth the effort to have them ceramic coated?

jc.

i just installed a set of m2 pipes and they are nice. thick enough for this application and seemingly as thick or thicker than the ic pipes i have. the have those ridges on the ends of them that help to seal them and the small one has "m2" stamped onto it. the bottom one was a tight fit and the top one was ok. they come with 4 nice samco couplers and 8 aba clamps. still overpriced though but easier than fabricating them yourself. here is a picture of it installed.

$25 of 50mm (I think?) Santoprene hose from McMaster-Carr (http://www.mcmaster.com/) will cost way less and results in less heating of the air. But they probably don't flow as well or look as good.

McMaster-RaceCarr is a great source for this kind of thing.

I have M2 intakes for sale. They are polished. Never used but I do not have silicon connnectors for them. I bought them from the supplier directly without the connectors. PM me if interested.

The upper intake tube is approximately the same thickness or slightly thicker than the intercooler pipes.
The lower intake paipes are cast and much thcker, possibly twice as thick as the upper pipe.

Those do look really good. Would jet coating them help with the heat issue?

PM stands for Private Message. It's just a wait to communicate directly with a person via the forum. More info can be found under the "User Control Panel" at the top left hand side of the screen under the RX7Club.com banner.

I think I am going to try to make my own. $285 just sounds too high for aluminum pipes. I know I can do it. It will just take time.

hmm would it be a good idea to replce the stock 2" rubber tubing, with some 2.5" aluminium piping??

and how about using different filters, ie: 1 blitz filter and one k&n

i'm trying to recycle some parts from my old car

I bought the M2 pipes when they first came out (way back in late '99) and all I can say is I hope they've improved the design. The top pipe fit *OK* but that bottom one didn't fit for ****. It hit the AC pipe and didn't line up with my M2 aluminum airbox even after I bent the AC pipe out of the way. I returned the lower pipe and got a "new" one several months later that was supposedley redisigned to work with M2's airbox. Yeah, my ***.

I have no problem paying $280 for high quality pipes and couplers, but dammit, make sure they fit! I realize this was a long time ago, and I recognize the cost involved in making the pipes, especially the cast lower piece. I'm just bitter about the whole affair still. I have since sold both pipes and gone back to the stock ones. If you MUST have polished intake pipes, these look pretty good (just not the filters):
