Where were the rubber buttons?

I recently took an REW engine apart and whoever rebuilt it before did not have ANY of the rubber buttons installed in the corner seals.

Supposedly the engine ran great, etc, and there was no sign of apex seal wear or corner seal wear for that matter.

Anyone else experience this, or what is the benefit?

Leaving the rubber inserts out of the corner seals isn't a big deal. There is no real benefit leaving them out except for those that have really large porting (where the insert might slip out a bit and get caught on it).

Thanks Kyle. I was just curious. I think it was a "budget" rebuild previously. They actually used silicone sealer on the combustion o-rings, and believe it or not, there was no evidence of coolant leakage.

I guess some people take the short cuts and the cheap way out?
