Can you list which ones/sizes we will need?

I'm a big fan of Hose Techniques hose - http://www.hosetechniques.com - reasonably priced, VERY well constructed, and made in the right sizes. Never used the Akimoto hose, though, to be fair.

How does the akimoto come close to Hightepssilicones quality? I have used akicrapo before and it just splits as soon as any heat gets to it. The hightempsilicone hose is by far the best i have ever used.

Hosetechniques is a friggin joke!! Do not use them. Waay to much money for the crap hose you get from them Theirs pinches and cracks with little bends as well. I get twice the hose for the money from Hightempsilicone. The kits that the rx store sells are a waste of money. Half that cost for better product. IMO it is a no brainer

I have used almost all the companies and Hightemps is the best. And has many colors! AND a pic of your friggin car on the home page!!! Where is the support?

I used a kit with the same exact sizes as the Hose Techniques kit. I ended up using exactly half of all the sizes in the kit. So if you're extra cost conscious then 60% of those sizes should work.

Actually, HighTempSilicone makes the hose *for* HoseTechniques . So it's the exact same stuff. I've ordered TONS of hose from HT, and when HighTempSilicone first showed up on the FC forum, I bought some hose from him. Compared the two - everything I can tell, it's identical.

That said, I've used TONS of HT hose over the years, on my car and on friend's cars. NEVER had a problem with it. Same could be said for HighTempSilicone's product, though I don't know if he's got a website for easy ordering and whatnot.

Well when i talked to him last that was not the case. That said maybe the hose that the rx store offers is not in fact teh HT hose. I compared the 2 side by side as well and the Hightempo hose was infenetly better than hose techniques. I could just about fold the 4mm in half before it would disrupt air flow thru it. Where as the other i put less than a 90 degree bend and it caved in on itself.

All personal opinion i guess. Maybe Hightemp will chime in and say whether he makes the hose for them now or not.

hightempsilicone's site Damian's CYM on the home page.

Akimoto uses a Peroxide curing system on their silicone hoses. Actually they are made here in CA by a company I am very familiar with. Infact I used to work for them as well

I made all of the hose Techniques hoses from 1996-2002. They use a platinum system on Silver, Black, and all of theflow colors. However they are still using a Peroxide system on the most common colors, blue and red. This allows them to save a little money on the production side because the silicone itself is easier to work with and is cheaper. The bad side is it is not as a high quality and does not have the physical properties of a platinum system.

We make all of our silicone hoses with a platinum system, beefed up the wall thickness and changed the colors (more noticeble in the blue).

I need damian to make me a flash intro for the new page! I love this guys vids.

The kits are sold with

40Ft 3.5MM
15Ft 4.0MM
16Ft 6.0MM
4Ft 8.0MM

However as dave has stated you will have left over hoses.

Jim

Thanks Jim. I thought there was a difference in the production process now. And for the record the hose i had from Techniques was the "red" hose that apparently continued to use the old method(peroxide) If that lends any credit to my comparison.

Again personal opinion. But Black is the best color around

So in using the hosetechniques kit from rx7store, if the hoses are bending the desired way and not caving in, what is the downside to using them? I have just about finished up a vacuum hose job. Before I put any tight bends on hoses I would simulate the bend before I put it on and blow through one side to make sure it wasnt caving in. You say the quality is not as good, but I'm not working on a space shuttle, just a car. What level of quality, compared to the stock rubber hoses, do you need to ensure a successful long lasting hose job?

You buy the kit, not individual sizes. The kit comes with 3 sizes.

If anyone has some extra black silicone left over from a kit they got I need 2 different sizes and just a few feet. I'd be willing to buy it from you or do some equivalent polishing work in return.
