Where is CEL nipple
I wanted to diagnose my car and read a lot about diagnostic on JDM FD. Where is the CEL nipple everybody talks about? i connected TEN and GND but couldnt find place to stick LED or Tester.

no CEL code?
So i did everything as described on my JDM fd to diagnose it. connected 680ohm resistor to negative side of LED, put it in MEN, connected positive side to + on battery and connected TEN with GND. the light went on and stayed. then we turned ignition on, it became stronger but then went out. that means no codes? or i did something wrong?

Dude, it's a JDM car and most of us have USDM vehicles. Check the far east forums.

I can't watch the video from work, but after the light goes off if it doesn't repeat the same sequence then you have no codes stored. For instance, if you have code 55 (just making it up), it will keep repeating that same code number with a short pause between the repeats. As a test, you can pull something which will trigger a code to make sure you are reading it properly:

dont bother mahjink, today i did everything correct. there was an error in that post, led negative should be connected to FEN, not MEN. I had one code: 13. thats manifold air pressure sensor. My car would start normaly with little, usual cold start smoke and then after 10 seconds start smoking hard until its not fully warm. I was observing coolant level for a week. no coolant loss, not a single buble coming out of filler neck during cold start. can MAP be a reason of excessive smoke during warmup (like runing extra ritch to stay safe)?
PS: I also have terrible MPG. in single digits

it was a false alarm. it displayd pressure sensor because 2 days ago i disconnected the sensor and ran the car withought it for a few seconds. it remembered the code and kept throwing it. I reset the ecu few minutes ago and ran the car, then stoped it and checked the codes. no codes at all. Then i followd FSM procedures with voltmeter, sensor is within specs. Still confused with my excessive smoke during warmup, its very very cold here but still.
when there are no bubles from filler neck, the car is not loosing coolant and sparks are dry, can i be sure that coolant seals are ok?
here is the video of smoke http://youtube.com/watch?v=qxxMf2V-lS4
i can also see water coming out of exhaust, but coolant level is not changing

Do you ONLY have the smoke for a while at startup? So it goes away within a few minutes and doesn't come back until after the car is off and sits for a while? Or do you also see some smoke while driving?

Well, I wouldn't say "sure", but I would definitely say it would be time to look at something else. There are several other reason for smoking; some not too bad, some very bad.

Does the smoke linger around when it's coming out or does it disappear in the air fairly quickly?
Basically, oil and coolant smoke will hang around for a while. i.e. if you had the car running in a garage, it would fill the garage up with smoke. Condensation will dissipate into the air. Maybe a video of the "smoke" would help.

here is the video but not in garrage. The smoke stays there it does not dissapear imediately. but its not oil definitly, i know how burnt oil smells. this one smells exhaust but too much of it, it stinks.

Startup Smoke (video inside)
Ok, so i opened new topic, i would like to ask moderators not to join 2 threds togather because the other was about diagnostics. here are 2 videos, one during cold startup in the morning and another after driving a little. the car is not burning oil or loosing coolant. the smoke goes away slowly as the car warms up and then dissapears completely when i drive it for several minutes.

Looks normal... most rotaries with a few miles on them tend to smoke when cold started... especially on cold mornings. You would be hard-pressed to find one that didnt smoke on cold startup. Abnormal smoking would be if it continued to smoke once warmed up and/or under decelration I.E. driving in 3rd gear in the upper RPM range and then let off the gas and let the compression slow you down

looks pretty normal to me.
mine smoked about that much, unless SOMEONE (NOT me id like to point out.) was boosting while cold... in which case there was more smoke than you could imagine... would blanket the entire town.

So that amount of smoke is normal you say? actualy on video it looks less then actualy is.
