What is a Pete Ferrell PMS?
I read somewhere that it is a good idea to get a Pete Ferrell PMS. What the heck is it and what does it do? My car has minor mods such as the Dual APexi intake setup, Mid pipe, and intake. Is there any benefits to me if I get one of these?

It's a replacement ECU from the 90's, if I'm not mistaken. I don't think you can buy them anymore.
I Googled "PFS PMS" and found an ebay listing with a description and photo. (PFS stands for Peter Ferrell Supercars)

The system now is primarily used by auto trans owners because it allows the full functionality of the OEM trans computer (hold button).
Major downside is limited resolution for adjusting fuel maps.

i have one...great ecu, allows 3 maps. its like the step between a pettit ecu and the PFC. it will let you adjust the fuel with low resolution but its perfect for the stock twins..i can run a full 11afr perfectly along the the rpm range except at 4500rpm
im contemplating selling it

Ahh opinions opinions - the purple box never ate any more motors than any other ecu did with proper tuning. Unfortunately people who know nothing about tuning liked to monkey around with the handset and change stuff like taking out timing and fuel and then blame the ECU and not their own stupidity.
Granted it's outdated and not sold new any longer but myself and countless others ran a purple box for a long time with no problems. In fact I ran a purple for about 3 years running 13-14 psi and never popped a motor, but got a PFC and blew two. Go figure.
Only real reason to use one today would be if the car is an automatic and you are planning on sticking with twins. As mentioned above it works great for auto cars.

Relax Jsplit, im not bashing PFS, in fact I think Ray is one of the best rotary guys out there, and I'm good friends with Ernie T. I have much respect for PFS and I think the new ownership is awesome. On the other hand, I don't see how your "opinion"about the ECU is more valid than mine. I've owned FD RX7's since 98' and I also had a PFS Purple Motor Stopper. I didn't even have the hand unit, and couldn't fool with the tuning, but I had countless problems with it. Many times, it would just "freak out" and either send the car into limp mode, not hold boost properly, etc. If you look in the archives and do some searching, you can probably find that although you didn't have problems with them, MANY did. Furthermore, compared to the newer ECU's out there that have finer tuning and better features, it does as previously stated, "suck".
