Yup, core charge means exchange, otherwise you would be paying alot more for the ecu plus the upgraded chips.

core charge is for the original ECU, if you send them yours and they can use to reprogram, then they will either not charge your the core charge or they will refund it, or atleast thats how it works on engines, call them up and ask

If you don't send them your computer up front they charge a "core charge" to be returned when they receive your old computer.

Ok, now I see what you are asking. Yes your ecu is the core.

Lets just say Pettit buys a stock ecu for $500 and puts their chips in it for another $500. You can buy that for $1000 and send them your ecu later and be refunded $500 for the "core", or you can send them your ecu(core) and only pay $500 upfront.

Or you can wait and save up the few hundred dollars more for an apex'i power fc, which is vastly superior to any upgraded stock ecu

No,

You will pay Pettit the $700 for their ECU, PLUS the $600 or whatever it is for the CORE CHARGE.

Once you swap ECU's, you send them back your ECU, and you get the $600 core charge refunded back to you so all you end up paying is for the origninal $700 for the upgraded ECU.

If you don't have the money for the additional core charge, you can send Pettit the $700 and your ECU. When they get your ECU and money, they will send you the upgraded ECU.

Mahjik that doesnt make sense I understand that I would pay Pettit 700 dollars, but why do I have to add another 600 dollars on top of that to them? its like I am paying them this 600 hundred dollars extra for giving them my ecu? wtf?

Here are the 2 options:

1.) You should only have to pay them a core charge if you keep your ecu while they reprogram another one and send it to you. Like if you want to still be able to drive the car while they reprogram a ecu they already have. Then when you would get the one they reprogrammed you would send your old one to them and then they would refund you the core charge($600.00) They charge you this core charge until they get your stock ecu back. If you never send your old ecu back then they keep your $600.00, it's like a sense of security for them in case some one feels lazy and doesn't want to send their old ecu in to them.

2.) Or you could possibly skip the core charge by removing your ecu, sending it to them, and waiting for them to reprogram it and send it back to you. You shouldn't get charged the core charge but your car wouldn't be drivable without your ecu in there.

Just explaining what was already explained above.
