what does a solenoid look like?

can anyone show me a pic of what a solenoid looks like? i dont know what the thing fucken looks like!! i have boost issues with my secondary turbo not coming and also with the primary now to so i was wondering what a solenoid looks like so i know where to find them and which ones to replace, speaking of replacing is there any visual things i should look at that can determine if indeed the solenoid is no good?

yeah ... see all of those things lined up in the middle? That's the "solenoid rack" ... but you also might be having trouble with one of the pair that attached to the front-facing side of the UIM (shown as I&J not attached).

They can break physically ... they tend to get a bit brittle from the heat and the plastic nipples for the hoses can break, but usually that takes some sort of physical knock. If it's just burned out or whatever they do, you're going to have to test it.

My money is on the turbo control solenoid mounted to the Air Control Valve.

someone has got to know which solenoid is causing my symptoms you see what happens is when i step on the gas by boost from vacuum climbs very slowly and it takes a long time for it to get to 10 pounds i have to really mash the pedal this is both the primary now to along with the secondary. Now that diagram that is posted above seems a little fucked up to me they have the vacuum chamber box far over to the right isnt it supposed to be right in front of the waste control and turbo control solenoids? i dont get this diagram even the oil filler neck its sitting in the back where the manifold is on the diagram!!! now somone suggested that the solenoid that is responible for my problems is the turbo control solenoid mounted to the air control valve is that the solenoid that you see right behined the black box under the manifold? now the other thing what the hell does the solenoid look like? is it a plastic black piece that has wires to it that connect to a metallic shaped box? because that what it looked like to me when i removed the black box to access the two solenoids underneath the manifold.

Well the solenoids look like kind of like electrical connectors with a hose attached, they are square, and check valves look like little bulbs. Hope that helps.
