What to do when nothing is wrong

I went to the garage today, eyed over the freshly waxed FD, disconnected the battery minder and closed the hood, sat in my freshly Meguirs leather protectant cleaned seats, switched her on and knocked back the Accelerated Warm Up (cause I know it's bad for the engine). Gently backed it out of the garage.

Let her idling for 3 minutes to avoid cold start flooding - checked the garage floor for any overnight leaks. (nothing)

I lifted the hood again and eyed over the engine and marvelled over the complexity - you wouldn't have guessed that I have had the FD for 14 years.

I flicked through the RX7 parts fische last night looking for replacement parts to order, but there wasn't really much I could think of - maybe some plastic trim anchor points that have lost a little grip????

I guess I could give the FD another coat of wax.......

The FD is such a magical car, and I have had some challenges in the past, but would do it all over again - it's a life experience that non FD owners would have trouble comprehending.

Another New Year and another year older for the FD, let's hope the passion never dies and the parts last forever!!!!

Mahjik took the words right out of my mouth...take her for a nice ride (or vice versa).

Of course you could do some minor stuff...I just replaced the ashtray with an armrest console and am cleaning the residue from where my front emblem was so I can put new efini badges on.

Umm, congratulations?? How dare you come in here and brag like that!!!!!!

The forum sentences you to drive it hard until there is something to fix. Report back when something breaks so the forum can point and laugh at you.

Is it even possible to get to that point?

Like stated above, drive it and enjoy all your hard work.

i have no problems with my fd at all. the problem that comes in to play is not having enough money to mod it the way i want to. but i do pray about it on occasion. lol

Really you think about it, why does it have to be "perfect". Is that the last motor that will ever go in your car? Do you really think that spending all that money will enable you to have the hood welded shut because nothing will ever break again?

I promote doing things the right way, but it doesn't have to be "perfect". All though I enjoy viewing others projects that are better than show room condition, but I don't have the patience to wait 2,4,10 years just for the perfect setup.

This was not a stab at the poster or anyone here, just I have noticed a ton of "perfect setups" that have been floating around the board the last couple years, and one they are all different and two....well, obviously they are never perfect because those guys are still posting in the tech help sections constantly like everyone else either seeking help or bitching about something else that went wrong.

hahaha know how i know your lying? cause you think theres nothing wrong! lol ahahaha that will keep me laughing for a few days.... because an RX that has zero problems is a fabled unicorn... like the proverbial celestial teapot it just doesnt exist. there are only two kinds of rx7 and those are rx7s that dont run cause you cant find the problems and rx7s that run just enough to make you stop looking for the problems.

then again im cynical...
