water pouring out from back of block
today was driving the RX7,water temp was normal.not over heating or nothing,so i was leaving from a stop sign then i heard a noise like pressure was being relieved.then the water buzzer turned on,pulled over shut the car off.see water on the floor and no prssure in the lines.i poured water in the filler neck and then i see the water pour right out the bottom between the tranny and motor.i got the car on the lift i took the cover off on the tranny that allows you to see the clutch,i put my finger in there and its wet.so pretty much the water if comming out from back of the block between the tranny and motor.has this ever happen to anyone or know what what caused it

I've had the coolant line which runs from the back of the block to the throttle body go out on me before... thats the right general area (and a bitch to get at) though it wouldn't explain water inside the transmission...

If the rear coolant hose to the throttle body lets go I could see it sloshing around and getting into the transmission. There is a cover plate on the side of the transmission that it could definitely seep into if I remember right.

There is a inspection plate (for what I"m not sure) on the top of the rear iron and below the area where the TB coolant line would go. There is a small chance that if the coolant line failed, it would run coolant past that cover, but really not in the quantity that you've described. And there would be coolant all over the top of the engine as well.
My first suspect is still a frost plug. Older cars, or cars running old coolant or straight water for extended periods can cause the plugs to corrode and fail. Not really common, but it happens. If it is the cause, the transmission, clutch and PP, and flywheel will have to come off to access it.

the same thing happened to me on a FC and it was the water o rings between the intake manifold and the block. I had the same exact symptoms. just taught about adding that to the thread.
