wastegate actuator ok?

wastegate actuator ok?
While trying to diagnose an overboost problem...
I have hooked a pressure tester up to the wastegate actuator to test its function.
The actuator arm doesn't move at all until about 9-10 psi are applied. It takes significantly more pressure to extend it fully (my gauge only reads up to 10)
Is this a valid way to test the action? Do those results sound right? If not, can just the actuator be replaced? I don't see a separate Mazda part number for it.
Thanks

Simpler restatement of questions:
1) At what psi should the wastegate actuator begin opening, and at what psi should it be fully open?
2) Is applying static pressure with a pump a legit way to test the action of the actuator?
3) Can the actuator be purchased by itself? I don't see a separate part number.

Hey!
I didn't know you were having problems. It's most likely your new open intake giving you the boost spikes. Most people I've seen usually start getting boost spikes once they open up the intake from the stock airbox (or modify the stock box).
I doubt there is anything wrong with your wastegate (aside from it reacting too slow which is where those electronic boost controllers come in handy).
According to the troubleshooting site, the actuator should start opening at 8 PSI: http://www.autosportracetech.com/RX-...leshooting.htm
I've never needed to test mine so I'll have to go along with what the site says.
As far as the parts, talk to Ray:

He can tell you if you can order it separate or not.

Thanks Mahjik - not really having problems, but yeah the boost is higher than I like and the PFS purple box is having a hard time keeping it down...
Bought a MityVac and have been going through all the turbo-related vacuum lines. (Fantastic tool!) Found two leaks so far, and was suspicious of that s-l-o-w movement of the wastegate actuator.
Sounds like it is probably healthy though...
Hey, feel like helpin' out on a silicone hose job? ;-) I just ordered the kit from Mazdaformance after feeling how brittle all my vacuum lines are. Should be fun.
