Warped Koyo?

Has any other Koyo installers noticed if there radiator was warped/twisted a lil bit?

I installed it anyway cuz I really dont think it affects the performance at all but Ive always read on here how ppl were impressed w/ its fit n finish and other than the warp I was too!

Heres a pic.....I took the best angle I cld to show how much it was warped/twisted.

As for the install:

It didnt go as bad as I thought nor did it go as easily as some others made it sound. I waited to install my SR SMIC until the Koyo arrived.
Some of the problems I ran into:
- the nipples on the lower corners were NOT spaced properly, so I had to shave approx. 1/8-1/4" from each inner side so that it wld settle into the tabs w/ the bushings on.
- once lowered into position, it was difficult bolting it in place (BE SURE TO HAVE TABS ON PROPERLY....I didnt at first) however, I think the fact that it had a twist/warp in it made it tougher.
- because its so much thicker the fans sit up higher which caused my new SR SMIC to sit about 1/2-3/4" higher making it very difficult to use the same mounting tabs that were taken off the OEM IC.
- the hood rod can no longer sit where it belongs due to the SMIC sitting higher......no biggy it sits foward of that position and the hood closes fine.

Thats all that comes to mind....if anyone tackling this job anytime soon wants some pointers or has a question feel free to drop me a PM....

I cant wait to take her out for a drive and see if the water AND air temps are lower now.....Aside the upgrading of those two items, I took the time to seal up some of the gaps along both sides of the rad, also using some 4" aluminum tape I taped up several seams along the opening in my M2 CAI, the mating area of the SMIC and duct, also sealed up the gaps on the duct opening in the front.....All of the above is in hopes of getting cleaner, higher volume of air in both the SMIC and CAI. Time will tell if it payed off.......I also thru in some water wetter for added measure!

Question???

Does the coolant overflow tank have an overfill valve on top of it? After refilling the system, I topped off the overflow tank and noticed it was spilling out......

The problem is it appeared to be spilling out from the top of the tank area rather than the top of the filler neck......So now Im worried if I have a crack in the upper portion of the tank.

Can someone clarify this for me?????

TY!

There is a small bleed hole in the top of the overflow tank.

You should not fill it more than 1/4 to 1/3 full with a cold engine. You need to leave room in the overflow tank for coolant expansion. The level will rise when the engine heats up.

When your engine cools back down again, the engine will suck coolant back in and the level should return to where it was when you filled it cold.

If its lower, wait for the engine to fully cool then open the coolant filler neck on the engine and top it off, then fill the overflow tank back to 1/4 to 1/3 before driving again. Repeat this untill the level stabilizes, as it means there is still air in your system.

If its higher then you will not need to add any fluid provided you confirmed that your engine is drawing some coolant back in from the overflow tank as the engine cools. It just means that it is now full.
