VIN Number, some help on explanation

Hi guys, I'm sure some of you are tired of this related questions but I really need for peace of mind by getting this sorted out and not freak..

In most websites about the RX7 VIN's explanations I see the indication that the serial model of +93 started 200xxx. Well, my VIN is JMZFD13B200100120. Can someone explain?

Authentic European VIN since it pops up on the European Electronic Parts Catalog.

JMZ- it's a Japan manufactured Mazda
FD13B- vehicle info. Easy to guess what it means
2- check digit
first 0- ?
second 0 - Hiroshima plant
100120- your build order sequence.

European VINs do not directly tell the build year of the car if you are trying to find that out. I can use the build order to say it's a very early European model and that's all. January/February 1992 if I had to guess.

I had all broken into parts but got alarmed due to the serial number start with "100" and read in most sites that this series started with 600xxx. I suppose they made the European versions to start from "10000x". I emailed Mazda anyway to see their answer and information about the VIN

JMZ - Manufacturer Mazda Passenger Car
F - Car Line (F=RX-7)
D - Generation (B='81-'85, C='86-'91, D='92-'99)
1 - Country code (1=Europe)
3 - Body Style Code (3=coupe, 5=cabriolet)
B - Engine (1=12A, 2=13B, 3=13B Turbo, B=13B-REW)
2 - Transmission Code (2=Manual 5-speed)
00 - Factory Code (00=Hiroshima)
600001 - Serial Number

Thanks for your answer and Happy New Year 2011

Good to know you have what you needed. My first time looking at an Euro VIN and I can see where I confused it with North American VIN style. We both learnt something new
Thanks for posting the reply from Mazda
