V Mount track report
On the way up to Thuderhill on Sunday morning....left Los Altos ard 5 in the morning...initial temps
water ard the 80-85sC mark
air temps 9-11sC
Air temp outside was probarly in the mid 40sF to low 50F
Sunday on the track
water temps low 80sC all day long
air temps low to mid 30sC
Air temp outside varied between 60sF to low 70sF
Monday on track
water temps hit 90C once, stayed on in the mid 80s all day
Air temps were in the mid 30sC all day
On both days, I would average about 6-9 laps.
Car is set at .8bar boost.
Lap times hovered ard the 2.15s~2.16s
My fastest laptime was a 2.14.33s.
Oh, our Foko placed 3rd in an exhibition race in his new track toy...CONGRATS

Low to mid 80s water temps on the track. Where'd you mount your temp sensor, in the radiator?
Otherwise looks like the V-mount is working great! I'm sure you'll fill everyone in with all of the how-to details right, Fong?

Tstat or no tstat?
I was *planning*, but work was in the way - I can't exactly just take days off at will. Ended up doing automotive-related projects anyways.
Besides, there's lap days all the time these days. No big deal.

Wow! intake temps stayed in the 30'sC? Thats impressive. I can get mine up to 40C with just a few short dips into boost with the stock IC. Thats a hell of an improvement. I think I just found my next mod.

But ambient temperatures were COLD.
Not to diss on the v-mount, but take these same track days, and put them in 80-90 degree F weather, and see how it holds up.

Last winter, temps with the PFS SMIC were alot higher....'
My previous experience with the twins and SMIC, my intake temps were very high
Highest water temps were 125C, intake in the 100s

Looks like your air temps are fairly consistant around 20F over ambient. If that remains the case in very hot weather then your temps would be around 45C in 90degree weather.
Thats pretty good but the thing I like the most is it doesnt affect your water temps like a FMIC.
BTW - What V mount do you have and does it have a air splitter between the radiator and IC along with ducting on the sides to make all the air go thru the core?

as you know it was an "interesting" race. since it was an exhibition race for the newly established american racing club, they just mixed all the different cars into one race! actually, it was cool to be racing against race prepped porsches, ferraris, trans am style muscle cars (mustangs and vipers), etc. kinda shows the relative strengths and weaknesses of all the different types of cars. overall a great time!
btw....i think you're taking on the torch of the nicest track fd around northern cali.....you gonna let me drive that bad boy this coming spring??

Did the HKS V-mount setup come with an upraded radiator? How big a radiator will fit? Will a Koyo fit with the HKS V-mount kit?
