V-mount conversion

V-mount conversion
So in the next month or so I will be converting my front mount IC to V-mount. I have a Koyo rad and the Apexi front mount.
I have seen a setup where someone used this IC to do a front mount and it worked. This will be temp until I find a good IC core and weld the end tanks.
My question to all of you crafty gentlemens is..... Can I take my KOYO rad and cut out a section from the bottom to make it a double pass rad?
I bought this rad here for a good price and since I can weld I would really hate to sell it and spend more money on a new one.
Thanks in advance,
PS: If someone knows a person that converts KPH speeds to MPH please let me know.

hahaha you guys are too much. I like being spoon fed. LMAO I will admit, I didn't search this one at all.
I was going to use my current Apexi IC because I am in the process of buying a house and can't spend money at the moment. I also wanted to use the car after the setup was completed and see how everything works. I am waiting on a friend to give me a feed hood so I can modify the front and make an exit hole for the IC. The apexi core is heavy and thick as hell. I wanted a sleeker look and also a lighter IC. I think apexi used 1/4 in aluminum to build this thing.
I agree on waiting to get this done, but I don't have much time on my hands and wanted top get this started as I now have a daily driver/beater corolla.
So for the Rad-- you remove the outlet and place it on the same side as the inlet and then spit the runners and leave the opposite side untouched.
As far as the speed- I was told that someone coverts the JDM kph speedos to read mph. It will still say 180kph but it will be in mph internally.

Dont just add another outlet to the same side, you need another "end tank", and have both of them come as close to the fins as possible to ensure flow goes threw one end and then back up. I dont think you could actually weld to the fins because they are so thin. leave the other end tank alone just cut off and close up the outlet.
Those pictures look IDEnTICLE to my radiator conversion.... Down to the white duck tape, and what appears to be summit chair, creepy. I cant seem to find any good pics of mine on photobucket but i can take some if needed.
I was lucky enough to find some oem radiator hoses off different cars that fit too i think i wrote down part number and vehicle model somewere.

That is what I don't understand. If there is a significant drop in temps then it would be beneficial, but if we are talking about a degree or 2 cooler IMO it is not worth it. The only added benefit I see if that you have both inlet and outlet on the same side running the lines way easier and it gives for more room for spacing out the rad and IC.
I am also going to make some fiberglass panels to box in the rad and IC. I am also planning on opening a hole on either my hood or a fiberglass one I buy to vent the IC. Then I am making some holes towards the back of the hood to vent the engine while the car is sitting still

^ The major advantage is a significant increase in airflow to the radiator compared to a FMIC setup. In addition to this, there is shorter piping to the IC when using a v-mount setup.

Why would you waste time/money building a "temporary" v-mount setup? IMO, just wait until you get the core you want, or build the setup with the Apexi core and use it.
Yes.

BTW, you don't need to quote every single picture...

I was assuming he didn't have it welded but does it have to be welded all the way around? It will be very difficult to weld that piece all the way around.

Damn dude cut me a break. The reason I don't search this forum is because the search feature sucks. I have tried it many times in the past and nothing i get all kinds of BS.

...but I already gave you a link to a step-by-step thread answering your questions. Did you even click on it?

If the search function "sucks" then how did I find the answer to your question, with a detailed photo-guide & write up?

Theorie is going to be like Chuck Westbrook in 30 years! Talking about how he had to figure things out in the good old days and how we have it so easy now and if we had any real gumption we'd figure this out on our own.

That is why i never come here for answers anymore. Most of you guys are Dicks when someone asks a simple question!!!
You know what buddy thank. It may be clean to you, but it is not to me. I bet you haven't done this mod and will not even attempt to try it. Id like to see you do this to your own car and then go off by what you think the guys said in the other thread. It was not clean weld a piece in there could just be tacking it so it will not come out not running a damn bead around the whole piece.
Thanks a bunch no not helping me. I hope I never run into you!!!!!

Dicks with a capital D.
Yeah my bad for providing you with answers to all your questions because you were too lazy to search, too lazy to read, too lazy to look at a step-by-step photo write up.
Actually yes I have built my own intercooler setup from scratch, but that's irrelevant.
Cheers man. lol

hahahaha too funny! Yeah apparently you know so much that you cannot even clarify what the other guy said. You are assuming then making it seem like I can't or do want to read.
So what does building an intercooler have anything to do with this double pass radiator? lol
Like I said before, thanks for nothing
