AKA zip ties.

You know, those little strips of plastic with notches all along one flat side, and a "head" at the other side with a "mouth" that you can slip the "tail" through, and when you pull the tail through the mouth the little plastic notches prevent it from being able to slip back out (ugh... I am appalled at my lack of art in describing zip ties...).

They come in all different sizes and you usually use them for bundling up cables. There's an infomercial about a zip tie gun that invents hundreds of incredibly stupid uses for them.

Anyway, that's tie wrap/ty wrap. Just find the smallest zip ties you can (Home Depot) and slip it around the hoses at the nipples, tightening to the point that the hoses won't come off, but not so tight that you brake anything.

Oh, yeah, and you're shop is probably talking about Hose Techniques. http://www.hosetechniques.com , I think. They sell hose kits for various cars. Or you can just buy several lengths of vacuum tube in the various sizes you need from McMaster (http://www.mcmaster.com) or something.
