turning turbos up
Hey... try not to make fun of this thread too much. I got my RX7 like a couple months ago, and when I got it my parents had the dude turn the turbo's down halfways, which totally sucks because I have twins and I didn't find out they were down until like last week. I'm wanting to turn them up again, but I don't know how. I talked to some other guy with an RX and he said sometimes there is a button somewhere, but I'm not sure. If there isn't can someone explain to me how I can turn them up, and if I have to do it myself under the hood, could I? Thanks!

No it's not Turbo'd
Search the forum or e-bay for pictures of boost controllers and look for it, my guess is that they disconnected some hoses, and I don't have the knowhow which or where they go, plus I respect your parents for wanting to keep you among the living, so if you're hell bent on turing this baby up and possibly blowing your motor, do a search for the Vaccuum Hose Diagram for the RX-7 Twin Turbo and you'll find all the hoses and where they're supposed to be attached. Then make sure your car looks just like that ! Or pay a mechanic to troubble shoot it for you... Probhably easier....

Its also possible that the previous owner had a DIY MBC, that wouldnt look like any of the things on ebay. Just leave it, youll kill yourself if you up the boost.

learn how to drive the car first. Coming out of turns while accelerating, driving in the rain and snow, ect. If this is your first car either your parents dont like you and want you dead or they dont realize the potential of the car. Get used to it before you want speed!

Car wont be very cool if you land it in a ditch!

parents need to be evaluated for this act of stupidity. the kid is going to kill himself and someone else on the road. an fd is not for a teen. car requires a lot of self control.

this whole thread =
seriously though, sounds like a manual boost controler. its most likely gonna be somewhere under your hood, probablly close to the firewall and on the passenger side. but if you dont know what you are doing, dont mess with it. you will blow your engine.

They could have just pulled the restrictor pills out of the wastegate control lines. That would create a nice 7-5-7 pattern...
Seriously though, everyone here is right, this car is not for a first time driver. Not only does it require self control, it requires a lot of driving skill. It has terrible blind spots. It tracks really bad in roads with ruts. Everything happens really quickly, and I also have a lot of trouble with other drivers not seeing me (maybe because mine is silver). I have driven and raced a lot of cars - this one must be taken seriously or you will be sorry. I would never let a beginner drive my car, especially if they were my son/daughter!

yeah probably a pill if it was a cunning mechanic. had an n/a fc first and i am damn glad i did! taught me so much about the car, and how to drive a rear wheel drive car fast without dying. That car tok a beating like no third gen would so i could enjoy a learnig curv that is not set at gretaer than 90 degrees. " If this is your first car either your parents dont like you and want you dead or they dont realize the potential of the car." Iceman, good call!
