Under the hood? I don't think so. It would help to reduce the water temp a bit, but how much? Dunno.

You wouldn't even see a change in temperature on a gauge.. It's that little. Save youself the headache and just put a switch on the fans. Then you can flip them on when sitting in traffic rather than sweating your ***** off.

or just turn on your marker lights, the extra load on the engine will turn the fans on at a lowere temp.

Running the heater with the cabin fan on makes a small but noticeable difference in water temp. When at the track I run the heater full blast out the floor vents. With the windows down it doesn't actually get hot in the car as long as you're moving at high speed

Running the heater in the past has been the difference for me in keeping temps from spiking on several occasions. It helps. It doesn't really bring temps down but it adds more thermal capacity to the system. Temps don't continue to climb as high as they would without the heater on. It probably has no impact in just street driving though.

I likewise run the heater on full blast at the track, however you might try the windshield setting, might be a little less toastie......

I feel hotter that way since the warm air comes to my chest and face. Using the floor setting the footwell gets hot but my torso doesn't. I guess the heat goes out the windows before it gets to my helmet. My personal preference is for hot feet and cooler head

My old E21 BMW, which probably had a clogging radiator, used to ping around town on hot days. This meant it's time to smack the dashboard to un-stick the temp gauge needle (and every other gauge). If it jumped past the 3/4 mark, running the heater full blast would get rid of the pinging.
