http://www.pettitracing.com The ECU is good for about 35-360'ish rwhp on a ported motor. With stock ports, expect 320-330'ish rwhp on increased boost. It does not work with upgraded injectors. |
Fwiw, RX7.com sells new 99 twins for $2,595.
http://rx7.com/store/rx7/fdturbo.html#efinitwins I've been pretty happy with them but BNRs are a good alternative also and more easily support running high 15+ boost levels if that is your goal. Running high boost levels on either the stock 93-95 or 99 twins decreases their life. I personally wouldn't bother running them higher than ~13 PSI if longevity is a goal. :) That being said, I dyno'ed around 350 rwhp on 99 twins, street-port and 1300cc secondaries and full exhaust & intake mods. |

stock port engine? then 320ish is about right, especially with a main cat, and some reliability.
friend of mine did 387rwhp on stock turbos, but he's got no cat and a big port, turbos were basically boosting as much as he could make em (17ish, dropping at high rpms) 14.5psi to 15 psi for reliability was the goal!! |

I have stock U.S. spec turbos that were on my 94 rx7 and made 301 whp at 15psi with the Power FC (which can cantrol boost levels on stock turbo's using stock boost solenoids), 3inch TB, other bolt ons after Dee Karagiannis tuned it......

j9fd3s I did forget to mention in the original post that I have a stock unported engine with 115,000 miles on it. I have stock injectors and fuel pump also. I did not have the car tuned with 17psi or race gas. This is my daily driver and I have not had one problem in the one year 3 months ownership. The fuel injectors 550, 850 were not even pushing past 65% duty cycle.
14.5psi to 15 psi for reliability was the goal!! To put it simply, that is not possible. |

.... 15psi and above is just too far outside of the efficiency range of the stock or '99 twins.

On the butt dyno, I feel like my 93-95's had more torque at a lower boost level compared to my 99's. Spool up to me seems the same, but the 99s seem to be more powerful at higher boost levels...10-15psi. I do like these 99's but if I were to do it again, and being that I autocross regularly...I would get the 93-95's again for that torque out of corners. They go for about 2100 from MazdaMotorsports with the club discount.

Is this like a proven fact or a myth?? Because I run them in the 18-20 psi range and I'm pretty sure its faster with more boost, not dyno proven but I think I pretty much proved it on the track.

neway i got my twins....bought and installed em for 300dollars...not a bad deal eh? the guy i bought the car had this car on stock ecu with a FC turbo and it only went to 5psi so when i got the twins on for the first time jus now it was pretty amazing...

Good deal. At least now you are driving the car the way Mazda intended it to be. ;)
