Do you know that some alarms have a "turbo timer" included in them? They'll leave the motor running for a set period of time after you turn the ignition off, which is usually done by tapping and/or holding the brake pedal before turning the car off.

I don't know if that alarm is compatible with a separate turbo timer, though ... sorry. Just trying to help you see what's out there.

how long do you run your turbo timer?

Just get your alarm to automatically self arm after 1 minute (or whatever you can set it for).

I get my car to arm the alarm after 30 seconds after the turbo timer has shut off.

just remember that your car will be armed when you go to get into it.

All I know is that my alarm works perfectly with my turbo timer.

but I have a remote start system installed too. they go hand in hand.

First off, I have to make sure my feet aren't on any pedals, I have to make sure the ebrake is pulled, and the car is out of gear. Then I hit a button on my remote BEFORE I take the key out. At this time, I take the key out, and the car stays on. This is not using the turbo timer yet.

If I hit any buttons (windows, sunroof, brake, clutch, gas, whatever), the alarm part will shut the car off, and it will go into turbo time mode.. But you don't want it to do that, so you get out of the car, close the door, and hit the alarm engage button. You'll hear a couple chirps, and the car will then lock up, and the alarm will be armed. The car is now in turbo timer mode. It's still running. After the turbo timer is finished, it will chirp a few more times, and your alarm will still be armed.

When you get back, you can either hit the button on your remote that will start the car (and then disarm the car), or just hit the disarm button, hop in, and start it with the key.

It's now a habit to always push that button before taking my key out. It isn't really a nuisance at all. I love it because with the turbo timer, I never have to worry if I might've left the car in gear before using my remote start.

Exclamation you don't need a turbo timer

If you have a stock alarm, keep it. Otherwise the door silinoid thing gets burned out with aftermarket ones. Spend your money on a LoJack theft recovery system instead.

You don't need a turbo timer. Just don't hit 10+lbs of boost in the parking lot, zip in a space and shut the engine off. You need to either putt the last minute or two or take your time parking with the engine idling.

If you still insist on getting one then get either the Apexi or Blitz. Both have a model that determines how long before shutting off the engine by how hard you've hit boost. Plus the Apexi model hooks up to the parking brake and kills the engine if it is released (not sure if Blitz can do that or any other can be modified to do that).

I have an HKS and I only use it to warm up my car at night (so I can take the key out), otherwise I don't use it all...except to impress the young girls (lol).

Greddy works the same way. It is wired to the emergency brake so you can't engage it without pulling the brake. Also, it will compute the required idle time based upon your RPMs.
