Turbo Timer

Hi everyone, I just bought a 93 Red RX-7. It's my first turbo car so I was wondering if it's recommended to get a turbo timer for my car, or is it a waste of money.

Thanks for all the help.

I think people really need to learn to use the search function more often, especially for questions like "what are the reliability mods" and "I am buying an RX-7 what should I look for." But I think that some questions, such as this, are ok. If you look at the search page that is mentioned above none of the search results really match the question, you have to really dig through a lot of stuff to find the answer you really want. A LOT of posts include the words "turbo" and "timer."

As far as my opionion goes, I think a turbo timer is a good idea becuase of an FD's need for its turbos to cool down after it has been driven. Although a lot of owners seem to think that they are pointless and I for one would like to know why. Just curious.

The reason many think timers are pointless is that in this day and age of water cooled turbo bearings is because unless you are coming down you`r street at 100 mph and pulling into you`r driveway and shutting off you`r engine the oil is unlikely to coke up.
