I think that too many people are using torque braces as a cheap fix for worn engine mounts. IMHO, unless you are putting down over 500rwhp, a torque brace is not needed. I noticed a vast improvement in shifting accuracy/feel just by going with urethane motor mounts. Also, I don't know about garfinkle's brace (which does sound like an excellent product, btw), but I have some friends that complain about vibration and noises from engine braces.

I'm with clayne & ISU. If those soft and/or worn motor mounts aren't holding the force of the motor under load, then the *brace*and what it's connected to is going to bear that stress instead.

I just met David Garfinkle over this X-mas holiday and purchased his torque brace..

We had lunch and few hours of car/bike talk.. I have to say, he knows his stuff.. I was very impressed with his work (his brace and all the work done on his car)..

I will be mounting my brace in next week or two..

haha, i get to hang out with one of "the gurus"!!! hahaha. his next project is to finish his bmw k1 motorcycle. . . im slowing that down with my intercooler installation, though.

the issue w/the braces. you guys arent understanding what most people say. this IS NOT a fix for bad motor mounts. NOBODY is suggesting that this is. this is a cheaper alternative to getting urethane motor mounts. i bought a new motor mount for my car when i replaced the engine. drove it around. installed the brace. . . and immediately noticed a difference. i didnt wanna buy the urethane motor mounts cause there is a wait period and they are costly.

NOTE THIS: the garfinkle brace IS NOT recommended for those vehicles w/bad mounts. by placing any extra brace on the car w/o making sure the oem mounts are in full function would promote failure at any of the three engine mounting points. . . four actually, since it is mounted to the x-mission as well. DO NOT USE ANY ENGINE TORQUE BRACE AS A MEANS TO GET AROUND WORN/BAD MOTOR MOUNTS. . . PERIOD.

paul

btw, i have no vibration from this device.
