Those who have experience with the HKS super Dragger

i've had a super Dragger on my car for some time.. bought it used off the forum..

in the beginning it was great i was very happy with it... low deep and not too loud

i popped my motor.. and the car sat for over a year and a half not running..

when i brought her back.. I went non-seq..

it's WAY louder (this i expected)

but now it sounds like a fart can honda raspy buzzy sound..

at WOT it's ok.. but partial throttle acceleration sounds like ****..
i'm embarassed to drive the car and ppl see me..

I drive around with my Apexi ATS butt plug in all the time... and it still Resonates a little!

is my Catback "blown"? or is the raspiness a by-product of non-seq?

i'm contemplating either a resonated midpipe like the magnaflow one from RX7 store

or ditching the exhaust and geting another one..

i have a video of my dyno runs.. and when I watch it i Wince at the sound of my car.. i'm trying to convert the mp4 to avi and upload it on Youtube.. (but then the whole world will see how crap my exhaust sounds)

my one concern is Weight... because I live international.. and in todays market.. shipping costs a boat load.. for example.. my Greddy SMIC cost $175 to ship out to me..

for this reason alone I was considering buying a Titantium catback.. since it's featherweight shipping will be reasonable..
but from what I understand.. the Ti exhausts do little in the way of muffling.. (or getting the magnaflow MP and leaving the CB as it is)

i don't mind it to be a little loud.. i just don't want it sounding like ****..

did anyone else run a HKS SD non-seq?

Hey currently i have a HKS super Dragger on my FD. Came with the car. I too adore the loud deep rumble it lets off at idle, and the scream it has at WOT. But its just too deep at normal driving conditions, like the highway at 120 km/hr, it just drones.

So i like it @ idle, i LOVE it at WOT, but i HATE it on the highway. I bet if i got some sound dampening spray or pad, it could cut the drone out significantly. But for me its not a deal breaker.

My dragger dosent sound tiny or raspy at all. Sounds very deep. So id say maybe you do have a blown muffler, or maybe your cat back is loose, and is rattling.

Ill use the Dragger happily, until a cat back exhaust becomes priority over my other mods.

It's too heavy man.. I meantioned that in my post..

already it's a fairly pricey unit.. and then spending another $200+ to ship it to me is plain dumb

i'd rather spend that money I save on shipping and put it towards a Ti. exhaust instead.. such as the Greddy or JIC units...

I'm curious what the Rx7store magnaflow MP weighs..

the greddy ti will be the same if not louder in my opinion, yes it gives a nice low at idle and cruise but these cars if we dont have a resonator in it they are loud at cruising. i got the Rx7store res and a rb cat, i really want to see how it sounds without the res but i dont have a normal mid pipe.

we pretty much have the same setup..

i'm non-seq with straight 3' pipe all the way to the Super Dragger

and mine sounds like ***..

looks like my muffler is blown then..

cuz mine is faar from deep and rumbly.. more like BAAaaaaaaaaa with partial throttle BBzzzzzzz

hell i can feel the whole car resonate sometimes at certain frequencies of exhaust..
