Is there a car alarm that works with a turbo timer?
I went to circuit city and talked to there alarm installers and they said their alarms wont turn on after the car shuts off from the turbo timer and they don't know of any that do. I'm still looking into other alarms, but haven't found any that work. Please help!

I've got a Viper and it won't arm with the car running. I haven't spent much time studying how you could bypass this. Also, I've read that some people have trouble with the idle tripping the alarm's shock sensor. I'm sure an alarm with a built-in turbo timer would be smart enough to handle this though.

I have an audiovox speaking alarm...you can have it arm its self 1 minute after the key is taken out of the ignition. If you set your trubo timer for 59 secs...the alarm will arm directly after the car shuts down. You do have that one minute where someone can jump in your car but you could also lock it manually to get around that.

I was speaking with an audio shop that does alot of alarm work, audio advisors for any one in my area, around here a few months ago and the guy told me they had gotton a turbo timer to work with with a DEI and an alpine alarm on 2 differnt rx7s. He said it was alot of work to do, so in the end it cost alot just to get a turbo timer to work.

i asked my local audio shop and they told me they need to build a relay for the turbotimer to work with an alarm, and it was like $40 for everything installed. you can pretty much make it work with any alarm.

My friend put a Viper alarm on his supra with a turbo timer. If I remeber correctly there was a wire that came out of the turbo timer that he had to hook up to the alarm. Maybe try calling the maker of the turbo timer. Sorry I don't remeber exactly, it was about three years ago.

I have the Alpine 8363. MY alarm arms with the turbo timer on. It bypasses the shock sensor until the turbo timer shuts off, then it enables it. All the other sensors (door, radar) work while the timer is running. I can set the time as long as I want. I dont know how it was wired up, but Car Toys did it for me. They put in the turbo timer and wired it up to work with the alarm for like 70 bucks. Took em 3 tries to get it done right. So it can be done, but not easily, have your installer call Alpine, they were the ones that told Car Toys how to do it.

I got mine done with $20 Canadian, but I know the mechanic so that's a friendly price. So I would say anything above $40 is a rip off, since it is just a relay switch and wiring. Mine I was installing the Turbo Timer and then get the alarm to work.
hope this helps

You can wire any turbo timer to an alarm. It only requires one relay and it actually quite simple. The basic problem is that the alarm senses that the ignition is still on and won't arm. This problem is the case when the alarm is AFTER the turbo timer. The trick is to put the turbo timer after the alarm and use a relay. The relay should select alarm (87A) or turbo timer (87) and output to the ignition (30). Most turbo timers have ignition 1 and ignition 2 wires. Use one to connect to (87) and the other to connect to the key switch directly. This will allow the turbo timer to sense the key in-out sequence and then flip the relay. When the relay is flipped on the alarm sees no ignition voltage, yet the system stays running from the turbo timer's output. When the time expires the alarm takes over the ignition again and hence enables the ignition cut. If in doubt about what I said, just print out and take to your installer. They should be able to figure it out from these instructions.
